We, the community of Maryborough Queensland Australia, are very proud of the Heritage we hold, in particular that of P.L. Travers the Author and creator of Mary Poppins. Ms Travers (Helen Lyndon Goff) was born in our beautiful town on 9 August 1899, and her legacy continues to reign in our history, community spirit, architecture and everyday life. We are proud to be the birthplace of PL Travers.
The excitement in our community rang out with the announcement of the new Mary Poppins Returns to be released in December 2018 and we cannot imagine a more fitting place to have the International Premiere Screening of Mary Poppins Returns ... We want her back!!!
Each signature on this petition recognises the importance that the Mary Poppins Character plays in Maryborough and demonstrates the strongest desire to have her movie premiered as a red carpet event in her town that has grown around her image,
We petition to the Directors, Creators and Distributors to grant her home town this great Honour.
We, the undersigned, call our global community, to support Maryborough in their pledge to seek the rights to host the International Premiere Screening of "Mary Poppins Returns" to be released on December 2018.
