I am a 31 year old lady from Barry, South Wales who is looking to have Cyberknife treatment in my battle against cervical cancer. I have battled with this illness since last year and have lost my fertility from the treatment I received.
The cancer has returned in my lymph nodes and the NHS said there is nothing further they can do other than treat me with chemotherapy to control but not cure the illness. However Cyberknife gives me a glimmer of hope as it is a form of radiosurgery which will target the tumour more accurately than conventional radiotherapy but there are no machines in Wales and only 3 in England.
I am petitioning for a Cyberknife machine to be brought into Wales and also for funding for this treatment to be more widely available on the NHS. I am currently raising funds to enable me to have this treatment and for more info please visit www.karenscause.co.uk
We, the undersigned, call on the National Assembly for Wales to promote the funding of Cyberknife treatment in the United Kingdom but also to call for the introduction of a Cyberknife machine into a hospital in Wales to allow Welsh patients to receive this treatment without the need to travel.
