Bring back Algoma's Annual Spring Clean-up

The City Leaders of Algoma have made the decision to cancel the Annual City Spring Clean-up.

This year we again saw the cost of the garbage lables increase by $.50. Last year there was also $.50 increase in price and yet we have seen our trash collection services decrease.

The Spring Clean-up is a highly anticipated event. It allows citizens to focus on decluttering their homes and yards thus helping beautify the city.

It provides opportunities to reuse and recycle many things that others no longer have a need for rather than filling our landfills with perfectly useable items.
This event also brings in people from neighboring communities who in turn utilize our local businesses and help build our economy.

We would hope that Mayor Schmidt and the City Council might reconsider their decision to cancel this traditional event.
