The Bloomfield Citizens Solar Campaign has been working for years to get the Town Council and Board of Education to get serious about installing solar panels on building roofs and parking lots. A survey financed by the town found that there are 13 buildings, 11 of them schools, that are good candidates for solar on their roofs. It said that the town could save $2.9 million over a 15 year contract with a solar company. Embracing solar energy is good for students, for the air, water and land, for the earth, for town finances and for our children and grandchildren.
We call on the Bloomfield NJ Township Council and Board of Education to move forward to put solar on school and town buildings and lots.
