Townsville boat owners have put up with sub-standard boat launching facilities for over 10 years. Our population continues to grow, as does the number of registered boat owners. It has been suggested that we are some 1000 parking spaces and 5 lanes under serviced for our population.

It is not fair to expect family boaties to launch their boats by 5am to ensure a park. Nor is it fair to expect people to turn around and go home when the parking space is full. Nor is it fair to expect owners of expensive fiberglass boats to queue up to use the single pontoon that services 8 lanes of ramp. Nor is it fair to allow single cars who don't pay boat and trailer registration to park in boating spaces while genuine boat owners are either forced to go home or pay parking fines for parking illegally.

Come on Townville City Council, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

We, the undersigned, call on Townsville City Council to raise the standard of public boat launching facilities for the many thousands of boat owners in the Townsville area.

This should include more spaces for trailer parking, better quality and an increase in number of ramps and an increase in the quality and availability of pontoons.

The Better facilities for Townsville boat owners petition to Townsville City Council was written by Malcolm Brown and is in the category City & Town Planning at GoPetition.
