During World War II, the Merchant Marines suffered the highest rate of caualties
of any armed service group. After the war, they did not receive benefits as
promised by the government.
H.R. 23 would help reconcile the oversight of these great patriots.
We, the undersigned, call on our United States Government to thank the
Merchant Marine Veterans of World War II. During World War II, the mariners
suffered the highest rate of casualties of any armed service. H.R. 23 would help
reconcile the oversight of these patriots by providing $1000 per month and crediting their wartime service for Social Security purposes.
The Belated Thank You to the Merchant Mariners of World War II Act of 2005 petition to Merchant Marines was written by Kristin gulcher and is in the category Military at GoPetition.
