Ban smoking around children and infants in confined spaces!

At a store one day, my mother and I saw a heartbreaking sight. There was a beautiful newborn baby in a car seat in the car next to us, and three people smoking! As an asthma sufferer, I became so angry! I couldn't imagine how sick I would be if I were trapped in there, much less a tiny baby! It troubled me so, that later at home that night, I was still thinking about it. There must be something I can do.

So I started researching. Childhood asthma is at an all time hight. I used to be a teacher and have seen first hand the affects of second hand smoke on children. I've seen the ones that get left behind, the ones that have to sit out, and the ones on daily breathing treatments. And you guessed it, their parents were smokers. And often, the parents would even seem stumped as to why their child was sick all the time.

I believe that if people knew it was against the law and that they would be fined, they would think twice about it. You know twenty years ago, people didn't think twice about throwing trash out the car window. But now most people won't litter because they dont want to pay the fine. It's shocking to me that it is now illegal in most states to smoke in public because it violates people's rights. But what about the rights of innocent children? Are they any less important? So please help me stop smoking around infants and children by signing my petition, because every child deserves to run and play.
