Dear Interior Minister,
We take this opportunity to draw your attention to the serious humanitarian crisis which is taking place on the European borders.
Every man, every woman, every child stranded on the borders with Europe has faced a long journey to escape violence, an ongoing war and poverty.
We are particularly concerned about the news that reaches us from various activists who tell of violent and inhumane pushbacks to families, minors and men who later died at the borders.
Hospitality and solidarity are fundamental rights that every human being must receive. We cannot stand and watch. We cannot allow first reception camps, which are often ill-suited for this task, to remain shelters and prisons with no future for those who enter them.
We ask for immediate support from fleeing families.
We ask for support for unaccompanied minors stranded at the borders.
We ask for immediate support from people who have suffered torture and abuse at the European borders.
We demand respect for human rights, an important and necessary act of solidarity.
We demand the right to shelter, a fundamental right to support families, minors, and men who face grueling and exhausting journeys.
