There has been some question as to who is granted access to labs and equipment in the photography department. This has become a problem for majors and non-majors alike.
Students need access to their facilities and should not have to pay an additional fee if they are registered as majors or enrolled in a photography class. To expect students to have access to alternative facilities outside of the photography department, or pay additional fees if they are actively enrolled students, defeats the purpose of being enrolled as such.
The facilities are all we have at MassArt as photography students. We are not granted additional workspace, if the access to our tools is restricted or denied how are we able to create?
We, the undersigned, call for a standard of available access to the Photography Department and facilities for all Photography majors (regardless of current course enrollment), and non-majors currently taking a photography course without penalty of additional fees (not relating to required lab or late fees).
