Amend the US National Anthem
- United States Congress and House of Representatives

The United States currently incarcerates more people than any other nation on the planet. One in thirty-two people in America has served time in prison. Yet, they continue to draft and enact legislation which can only be called "Vindictive Justice" and enables the judicial system to incarcerate even more of the citizens for even longer terms (eg., H.R. 1528 and Mandatory Minimums).
One of the last "advanced" civilizations to keep and practice the death-penalty, I think it's high time that they advertise their true colors more appropriately by amending the National Anthem to reflect the reality of the nation:
The current anthem contains the phrase: "Land of the free". This should be changed to "Land of the imprisoned".
This more approppraitely reflects the reality of the land.
Change the American National Anthem from "land of the free" to "land of the imprisoned".
The Amend the US National Anthem petition to United States Congress and House of Representatives was written by Kevin McCann and is in the category Government at GoPetition.
