In 1995, the General Assembly strengthened the harrassment/stalking laws with strict penalties including a mandatory prison sentence. They never invisioned this law could be used to arrest and prosecute innocent people on the basis of one person's testimony and no witnesses.
Please show your support for amending the current law to provide protection for the falsly accused. Currently, if you call anyone more than once and they don't answer, you can be charged for with the crime of harassment. If you knock on someones door, even once, and they don't answer you can be arrested for stalking. If at any time you had a relationship with this person, whether it is a family member or a past relationship, you can be arrested for stalking which is a felony.
