I must rant. My son graduates this year and since he could speak he's only had one mission and that was to be a part of the elite, the USMC. He participates 3 days a week rain, sleet or snow in gruesome physical training that is not required however implements his determination to serve our country in the upmost way. He has signed on the dotted line and took his oath to serve our country and contribute to the freedom all of us receive as Americans. This is my child. My first born and then my second to follow as an active military man the following year. This is dedication, perseverance and a choice these young men have made on their own.

With that said, their high school in Hilton, NY where the presiding principal is denying these young men, not just my son but the other driven young men awaiting their departure this summer to boot camp, the opportunity to wear the USMC sash with the cap and gown they earned. This is not the first time after research that schools have denied such symbolic pride to be shown as a result of these young men and women and their decision to serve our country.

I am emailing this principal and superintendent along with whomever because it is appalling that a simple addition to a graduates' attire with the acknowledgment of their dedication and future endeavors cannot be honored as these individuals, OUR CHILDREN, are serving our great nation!

Please share and I would be honored for suggestions to make this matter public Bc it is unjust and wrong! I plea as the proud mother of this devoted young man to get the acknowledgement he is deserved. What has happened to our country where it's against the rules to pledge our nation much less honor the individuals whom choose to fight for it and us.

We, the undersigned, call to the attention of the department of education to allow young men and women whom have taken the military oath to be allowed the addition of a military sash to be worn with the graduates' cap and gown.

By signing this petition we the people and fellow Americans support the young individuals that have made the choice to serve our country upon graduation.

The designated cord or sash provided to the graduate whom has taken the oath to serve our great nation will be added to the cap and gown attire as a honor earned thru dedication and devotion exemplified by the graduate.
