In Scotland High School, students are not allowed to wear the Eagle Feather as they walk across the stage. This is a large problem simply because in a lot of native american traditions walking across the stage with the feather beside your tassel is a dream we all long to live up to. The Scotland County High School disallowing students to wear the feather that we all rightfully earn through hard work has to be a giant heartbreak, not only to the class of 2019, but previous graduates who were not allowed, and future graduates who will also be denied.
We, the Scotland County Citizens, call on the Scotland Board of Education to allow Native American students who have earned their feather, to be allowed to wear their Eagle Feather as they walk across the stage.
