Tens of thousands of new properties are planned in the area around Canary Wharf on the Isle of Dogs and in Blackwall. We believe property development is growing faster then the areas ability to cope as each development is being approved in isolation. In total there are more then 24 developments with 20,284 units planned on the Isle of Dogs alone with thousands more in Blackwall.

Examples include the 984 apartment, 75 storey City Pride development, the almost 4,500 homes in Wood Wharf, the 950 apartment, 73 storey South Quay development, 3,000 homes at Westferry Print Works and the 345 apartments replacing the MacDonald’s next to Blackwall roundabout. If you are interested in seeing what the area might look like in the future visit this site which has pictures taken at two recent developers conferences;

We believe that major developments should be stopped;

• Until we build the new schools, surgeries and transport infrastructure we need first;

• Until we develop a new detailed plan for sustainable development;

• Until we consult the local community on the level of development they find acceptable and which makes the Isle of Dogs & Blackwall a better place to live.
