There has been a massive increase on business rates from Kensington & Chelsea Council that small businesses in Portobello area cannot pay as we have had a huge decline in our takings due to the congestion charge, economic climate and rent increases. We receive no additional services than a year ago, there is no reason for the rates to increase like this.
Portobello Road is one of the world's most famous markets, as well as one of London's most popular tourist destinations.
We need support from our local council and politicians for this vital area of London to be able to continue with market traders and very unique stores of artisan quality.
We the undersigned demand the business rates are not increased so much in Kensington & Chelsea, We small businesses in Portobello cannot support these massive increases as we have been so seriously affected by the congestion charge, increased rents and economic climate.
We receive no more services than a year ago.
