teaching Afrikaans to students that have absolutely no need or want for it. Additional language learners in High Schools are not only forced to take Afrikaans,but are excepted to pass it while there is no need for it in in the international job-sphere.
Yes, let's force them to learn a language that is only kept in play by conservatives on tertiary level and beyond because they are ‘oh so desperately’ clinging to the last thread of perceived identity they have left. Let's teach a bunch of kids a language that's an useless medium for communication at tertiary level, people need to grow up and realise that our language is just a part of what we are, it does not define who we are. However much we love it.

Afrikaans won't die because we give students the choice to study it or not, but it sure as hell will if we continue to force it upon students.

We call on the Namibian government to make Afrikaans as well as other languages non-compulsory and thus save money for other uses.
