Town of Ontario

United States of America

The current town code forbids owning poulty/fowl unless you are a fully functioning farm of 5 acres or more. Which automaticly rules out hobby farms, homesteaders or people who are just looking to help feed their family. I petition that the code be changed to include smaller home operations such as these.

Surrounding farm town such as ours in Wayne county do not forbid the housing of fowl (chickens, turkeys, ducks, guinea hens ext) I suggest we follow these towns example an allow these animals to be kept in backyard flocks.

Williamson, 58-17
Walworth, the only mention of fowl is in 180-4 terms defined- farm animals and fowl.
Marion, only mentioned in 308-6b, 308-25, 308-45 as parts of definitions.

Even towns/cities near us but not in Wayne county.
The city of Rochester they are allowed as long as you have a license to do so provided by the city and are subject to yearly inspections by the police. (done so to pervent cock fighting)

We the undersigned. request the town to ammend the code to allow poultry/fowl to be kept in the manner of backyard flocks, small hobby farm operation, and homestead operations to sustain ones own family.
