The junction of Ferriby Road and Heads Lane/Woodfield Lane, Hessle has been known as a dangerous junction for many years.

Currently Hessle High School, about 200 metres from the junction, is being redeveloped and the school will grow from around 500 to 1500 students in the near future. Simultaneously, the Bridgehead development is being pushed forward by East Riding Council with no eye to road safety at this junction.

The junction is becoming ever more busy and accidents are becoming both more frequent and more serious. At the time of writing, there have been at least four serious accidents in the past three months. Accidents often include vehicles being thrown onto pedestrian areas at speed.

We predict that there will be one or more unnecessary deaths at this junction in the foreseeable future. Video evidence of accidents was presented to Hessle Town Council and East Riding Councillor Jefferies two years ago and no improvements have been made. East Riding Road Safety appear to be avoiding the issue despite numerous requests from multiple individuals.

We will not stand by and watch someone die at this junction.

We, the undersigned, demand that the junction of Ferriby Road and Heads Lane/Woodfield Lane, Hessle be made safe before there is a fatality at the junction.

We believe that time is of the essence, as the risk of that fatality increases daily.
