We appreciate all of you so much and especially appreciate your encouragement and support of our mission to assist unwanted, neglected and abused animals in our local communities. Paws and Claws continues to work toward a solution to provide a clean and safe transitional home for pets in our area. Paws & Claws Humane Society, founded in 1994, is a 501 c3 non-profit organization striving to help abused, neglected and abandoned animals in southeast Arkansas through rescue, medical treatment, spaying and/or neutering, and placement in forever homes. The society desperately needs better housing and kenneling conditions for dogs and cats as well as space for larger animals and supply storage.
We the undersigned, call upon Desha County, Desha County Judge Jack May, the Desha County Quorum Court, and the Desha County Fair Board, to immediately sell the Desha County Fair Grounds property located on Highway 65 in McGehee, Arkansas, to Paws and Claws humane society for the total amount currently owed on the Desha County Fair Board’s outstanding loan.
This property is the perfect location for this humane society to continue their compassionate, humane and much needed work in Southeast Arkansas, rescuing, providing care, and finding homes for the area’s large population of abused, neglected, unwanted and abandoned animals. This property provides buildings and space to expand the group’s work, as well as provide better care and living conditions for rescued animals. This property will enable the group to expand their rescue and care for larger animals, such as horses and other livestock in dire need of assistance, as well as provide areas for a laundry, supplies’ storage, fund-raising and educational activities.
