Southway has become a fast road and with the schools, Guildford Grove and Kings College becoming increasingly popular, we need a safe place to cross. Not only for the children but local residents wanting to cross the road to use the shops.

There have been several near misses and a local girl was seriously injured whilst crossing to go to school, which resulted in her death. This was over twenty years ago when the traffic was not as heavy but was witnessed by many of the school children.

We do not need another fatality, child or adult.

We the undersigned call on Surrey County Council to provide sufficient road safety measures (pedestrian) crossing to be installed on Southway between the road of Pond Meadow and the entrance to Guildford Grove School.

It has become increasingly difficult for both children and local residents to cross this road as it has become a "rat-run" for Guildford Town bound traffic and motorists are often travelling at high speeds, ignoring the already placed flashing school signs.

We continue to face the reality of a fatality.
