Charges are listed above. The point of this is not to undermined The Court Or States Decision on the charges obtained by Mr. Willardson, but to request other forms of discipline. This petition is meant to provide an opportunity in which he can succeed in becoming a law abiding citizen rather than the same forms of discipline he has received since the age of 18.
A popular quote, and definition comes to mind in regards to this:

Mr. Willardson seems to be sentenced to service time in jail around the same time every year. The courts and officers of the state keep placing Mr. Willardson back in jail each year around the same time. He has been in jail for the most part of his life. He cannot remember a Birthday outside of a jail facility. How can we expect someone to get better and make better choices if while they are trying; we continue to place them back. Placing him back into states custody just before the seeds of change can take root. He gets so close to living a clean and honest life, and then that is taken from him. He has expressed a feeling that no one truly cares, or wants to help him so why try? He has expressed this with throwing his hands into the air stating "Might as well do this, because it's my season. They always put me jail around this time anyway".
I believe if he was given a proper chance; where with time and a strong support network, he would be able to truly turn his life around.
He has the ability to become a success story for the state rather than a repetitive hindrance.
This petition is a request to have the cycle he is in broken, We respectfully request a new form of discipline be taken into consideration. We would like to ask the courts to try a more nurturing and therapeutic approach. We also request that his mental illness be taken into consideration as well. We would like to see if a new approach would assist Mr. Willardson make an honest change in his life.
Preston Ryan Willardson has been stuck in a cycle of being in and out of jail since the age of 18. He continues to try and change his life yet comes up short due to technicalities with the terms provided by the officers in charge of his well-being. He will have been making progress, then right before the seeds of change can take root, he is placed back into Salt Lake County Metro Jail. We believe this only starts the vicious cycle over again. This petition is a request to find a different form of discipline. We would also like to have taken into account his traumatic childhood, along with his mental illness. We ask for a more nurturing approach, and more time with a strong support system in order to see the best results. We would like the courts to consider a clean slate and an opportunity to change this one man's life forever. This request is respectfully being asked for by the people that love and support him.
