A Call for the development of StarSiege 2

This is the 3rd petition calling for the development and release of Sierra/Dynamix's StarSiege 2, the sequel to the highly popular StarSiege game. The first petition, started in February of 2000, generated over 570 votes, the second petition has so far generated over 270. As the original game becomes older and is threatened by more advanced graphics and coding from its competitors, it continues to hold a loyal audience as well as maintain its position as one of the greatest multiplayer combat sims ever created.

Sierra, Inc., the parent company of the game's developer, Dynamix, has chosen not to create a sequel to this game. Instead it has chosen to embark in other game areas such as Champion Bull Riders, Trophy Bass Fishing and Tribes 2.

Tribes 2's predecessor, Tribes was released in conjunction with StarSiege. Each game sold approximately the same number of units, yet Tribes was chosen for sequel development, due to the fact that it was perceived as being so much more popular. Unfortunately, the Tribes code was so easy to copy, that there were literally thousands of copies distributed and never paid for - leading to the increased popularity of the game.

StarSiege is not capable of being copied in this manner and as such was limited to a customer base that actually was required to buy the game to enjoy it to it's fullest extent. Something that has lead to its perceived demise by corporate.
