The 8 hour workday was based off of 19th century philosophies . People then were working 12-16 hours a day and understood more personal time was needed . Life has drastically changed since the 1800s, we have learned that work/life balance is arguably the most important element for our health . An 8 hour work day is no longer efficient for optimal productivity or for our happiness . A 6 hour workday will give the employee an additional 10 hours a week to enjoy their life ,which will then increase productivity and produce healthier, happier workers. Instead of giving a 3rd of our day to work , we will be giving a 4th of our day . Is this too much to ask for ?
We, the people call on the United States Congress to mandate a 6 hour workday , 30 hour work week to be the new standard for full time employement.
