The Local Government area of Wollondilly in the State of New South Wales has a population of approximately 50,000 residents and covers an area of 2,557 square kilometres.
The Shire includes the townships of Appin, Bargo, Belimbla Park, Brownlow Hill, Buxton, Camden Park, Cawdor, Darkes Forest, Douglas Park, Glenmore, Lakesland, Maldon, Menangle, Mt Hunter, Mowray Park, Nattai, Oakdale, Orangeville, Pheasants nest, Picton, Razorback, Silverdale, Tahmoor, The Oaks, Theresa Park, Thirlmere, Wallacia, Warragamba, Werombi, Wilton, Yanderra, and Yerranderie. There are two police stations in the Shire. One is located at The Oaks and one at Picton.
The stations are manned on a 5-day a week basis and calls are divert to Narallan Police Station in the Camden Local Government area after hours and on weekends.
Not having 24/7 police presence in Wollondilly is a disservice to our growing community and we respectfully call on the Police Minister to address the deficiency.
We, the undersigned, call on the New South Wales Police Minister Mike Gallacher to mobilise a police presence at the Picton Police Station from the current 5-day a week regime to a 24/7 regime for the safety and security of the Wollondilly community as a matter of priority.
