Gedling Borough Council is proposing to close two Leisure Centres and one Community Centre in Arnold and one Leisure Centre in Calverton in order to sell off the land for income to build just one centre. The plan is to build on the covenanted George V playing fields and it is doubtful that permission can be obtained.
Even if permission to build is granted we will be without leisure facilities for at least two years in Arnold and Calverton will lose their centre completely. It will also mean teh loss of Arnold Libary as it shares the building with Arnold Leisure Centre.
We the undersigned support the call by Labour Councillors for Gedling Borough Council not to close Arnold Leisure Centre & Swimming Pool; Bonington Theatre; Redhill Leisure Centre, Calverton Leisure Centre and Pondhills Community Centre until plans are fully agreed for their replacement.
