The Conservative Government put many thousands of Pensioners on Pension Credit and Unemployed people at risk of losing their homes on Friday when they changed the way the rate of mortgage interest is paid was reduced from 6.08 per cent to 3.63 per cent, which is the Bank of England's average mortgage rate.

These changes mean any Pensioners and Unemployed people receiving D.W.P. help with their mortgage interest will not be able to meet their mortgage due to this change and their homes will be at risk of repossession. Is this fair on the thousands who have worked all of their lives and meet the criteria to receive Pension Credit?

Please sign this petition and it will be forwarded to the Prime Minister who wrapped up the Conservative Conference by saying YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU NOW.

We the undersigned call on the Conservative / Liberal Democrat Coalition Government to reverse their decision on the way the mortgage interest is calculated for Pensioners and the Unemployed who receive payment from the D. W. P. as part of their claim for help with their mortgages back to the 6.08 per cent that it was prior to 01/10/2010 as opposed to the 3.63 per cent that it now uses.
