The parents, students, extended family and community of Our Lady of Victory (OLV) Niagara Catholic are pleased to announce an ePetition campaign in support of their senior elementary (Gr 5-8) school replacement and consolidation with their junior school (JK-Gr. 4). The campaign is hosted by GoPetition, a leading international petition hosting portal.

“We did our homework and found GoPetition best suited our needs to professionally represent our community to endorse our School Board’s application to the Ontario Ministry of Education for the senior school replacement.” states Randy Paura, the School Council Chair. “From the outset, everyone expressed the desire to set an example of our faith in deeds as well as our words, to effect change in a constructive and positive manner, with all stakeholders for the best interests of OLV’s current and future students. As noted in our web statement, we are ‘endorsing’ the long awaited and promised replacement of OLV Sr. At the end of this process, we wish to have the Ministry of Education reference our community as a Christian example of working together to efficiently and positively realize our goal, for the continued excellence of Catholic education at OLV.”

Business cards simply addressed as “Advocating Awareness for OLV Senior School replacement and consolidation with the Junior School” are finding their way around the locale. The cards include the web address http://www.gopetition.com/online/19674.html where interested community members can sign on and express their support.

“We sought a web hosting partner that could represent our ideals, and provide a transparent and genuine advocate to raise awareness for the need to replace OLV Senior” continues Mr. Paura. The website will remain open until the fall of 2008 when the eSignatures collected will be submitted to the Principal of OLV in support of the NCDSB’s renewed application to the Ministry of Education under their Prohibitive to Repair program, which invests in replacement school facilities in Ontario. “We were number three on the Board’s list when this current process started in the fall of 2006. With the Ministry of Education recently addressing the top two, we certainly are looking forward and reasonably expect that the Board will make OLV their number one priority this round” expresses Randy.

Working together is a constant theme espoused by Mr. Paura, who quotes Henry Ford in closing: “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
