The current state of the NSW train system is less than satisfactory.

2. Improve Perth's public transport system at night

Drink driving is a major public health concern as it contributes significantly to morbidity and mortality rates especially in young people. Injuries and fatalities caused by drink driving account for approximately 30% of all road accident fatalities and contributes a financial burden to the community of over 200 million dollars annually.

With few public transport options on Friday and Saturday night, we feel that the target population of 18 to 25 year olds often feel they have no other choice but to drive in situations where public transport is not available.

We propose that an increase in the number and frequency of trains and popular bus routes should be in place at night, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays between 12am and 4am.

These proposed changes are essential to reducing the prevalence of drink driving and the incidence of the subsequent accidents, injuries and fatalities and their enduring impact on the community.

3. Brisbane to Gold Coast train services to run later

Brisbane City to Gold Coast trains stop running at around midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, and earlier on weekdays, leaving hundreds of late night shift workers, festival goers and general members of the public stranded on the streets.

With no bus services running this late, and a taxi costing over $200, may of us find ourselves hitch hiking, sleeping out the front of a train station or wandering the streets until the morning.

4. Increase Services on the Altona Train Line

Melbourne's Metro Trains has announced sweeping reductions in services to the Altona train services. Increasing time between trains to 22 minutes (confusing) and using the Altona line as a shuttle from Laverton to Newport.

This means less services, longer trip times to the CBD, no express services, and therefore less time with families for affected workers.

7. Opposing Cuts to Southern Services via Forest Hill

Southern Railways are planning to cut trains to Brockley, Honor Oak Park, Forest Hill, and Sydenham in December 2009 and again in May 2010.

In December 2009 they plan to cut our direct evening service (and Sunday service) from Charing Cross, running all trains from London Bridge. This is a well used service and provides a direct connection from the West End after 7:30pm. As this is an off-peak service we reject Southern Railway's claims that there is no capacity through London Bridge.

In May 2010 Southern Railways plan to reduce evening peak services and daytime services from London Bridge by over 30%, from 6 trains per hour to just 4 trains per hour (the same as the off-peak service). They will continue to run 6 trains per hour in the morning, meeting the demands on the line, but will not provide a similar service in the evenings, hoping that customers will switch to East London Line services or put up with serious overcrowding.

8. Reform Victorian Public Transport: It is Inaccessible for People with Disabilities

The intention of this petition is to promote a fair and accessible Victorian Public Transport System that is inclusive of all people with disabilities, particularly those people who use wheelchairs and scooters.

The Department of Transport (DOT) is discriminating against all people with disabilities who use wheelchairs and scooters where in Victoria nearly all of the Connex and Myki fare payment & ticketing equipment is inaccessible and does not comply with the Australian Standards or the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

Now it is time for the Department of Transport (DOT) to stop the rhetiric regarding 'access' and to give all people with disabilities 'a fare go' and abandon the proposed free Access Travel Pass or at least increase the eligibility criteria and stop the blatant discrimination.

The Transport Ticketing Authority (TTA) needs to be fair to all people with disabilities in a Fairer Victoria and widen the eligibility criteria of the free Access Travel Pass to include free public transport for all people with disabilities, particularly those who use wheelchairs and scooters who are challenged by the many physical barriers when attempting to access the inaccessible Victorian Public Transport System.

Applications for the free Access Travel Pass for people with disabilities will be available in September 2009 on the Metlink website.

9. Support a Train Service to Vineland

Mass transit is desperately needed in Southern New Jersey. Our roads are becoming more and more clogged by traffic, and during the Summer months, it is near impossible to reach certain destinations in the Summer months because of shore traffic.

We have few mass transit options, few to none of which are actually useful. At least one new train line in South Jersey is needed in order to alleviate the traffic along roads such as Delsea Drive, Route 55, and Rout 9/the Parkway. The current new line that has been decided upon must be extended through Vineland and Millville to shore points such as Ocean City, Wildwood, and Cape May. The line would also help to revitalize downtowns by drawing people to these downtowns to get to the train stations. It would also open up the job market by providing access to jobs in Philadelphia and other places along the line.

Currently there is a plan to extend service to Glassboro from Camden with connections to Philadelphia. However, this will not alleviate shore traffic and does not serve the population centers of Vineland and Millville.

11. Protesting horrible service on the Greater London Metropolitan area's above ground rail service

Train service has once again gone up in price for us commuters that ride any one of the many train companies that provide service into London each day.

At the same time, service seems to continually decline and overcrowding has become a huge issue, not only an issue-- but a Health and Safety problem. Have you ever been so crowded in a carriage that the doors cannot close properly? Ever miss your train to work because you cannot physically get into the carriage? This petition is for us.

What I call for is to boycott the trains for one day. This date is 16-February-09. I am not asking people walk, drive, cycle or ride the bus. What I am asking is that people don't buy tickets for this day (Underground is not included). This loss of revenue, for even one day-- will wake the corporate fat cats up and hit them where it hurts, their bottom line.

What I call for is more frequent trains during the rush hour periods and longer trains when available, so that we are not all crammed in like cattle going the slaughterhouse (or abattoir if you prefer).

With enough signatures on this petition, it will ensure that no one risks prosecution or fines for paying your fare. They cannot stop us all! So lets join together on 16-Feb-09 and take back what's rightfully ours- a free ride on the companies that get rich off us and continually give us what is one of the worst train services in Europe.

12. Best West LRT

The City Proposes an Elevated West LRT Line

A rail line (with an elevated station and elevated switching yard) will commence at Shaw Millennium Park, travel 30 feet above the ground through the community of Sunalta, over the Scarboro elementary school playground and will rise to 70 feet above the south side of the Crowchild/Bow Trail interchange. The line will cross over to the north side of Bow Trail and return to grade at 24th Street.

What's wrong with the proposal?

• There has been no community consultation.

• The City is ignoring it's own policies on creating sustainable developments.

• The City is eliminating the evaluation of the economic, social and environmental impacts (triple bottom-line evaluation) to fast track the construction under a self imposed timeline.

• Elevated lines are contrary to successful urban planning practices.

• Many cities around the world are replacing overhead trains with underground lines to create community friendly neighbourhoods.

Elevated transit is contrary to City approved policies, practices in other cities and a long term vision for Calgary. We are strongly in favor of West LRT, and want a solution within an acceptable budgetary range.

13. Stop interference from the railway noise

Due to a sound assessment done 17 years ago, many of the units in our co-op do not have central air conditioning.

Residents of these units are able to hear the increased noise of the trains at night and during the day, especially with the windows open.

The sound of the trains, particularly at night, has been greatly increased with the construction of a third railroad track beside the existing lines and is expected to increase more so as trains begin to run regularly on these lines.

By adding a new third track to the main rail line, the Government of Ontario expects to increase rush hour service along these lines to Hamilton so they won't conflict with the freight train traffic, therefore freeing up all three lines to be used at the same time and thus increasing freight, VIA rail and Go Transit traffic in our community.

14. Improve Rail Travel Bangalore - Coimbatore

Rail Connectivity between Bangalore (Garden City, IT City) and Coimbatore (Manchester of Southern India, Textile City).

This is to bring to your notice that the commuter usage on the Bangalore-Coimbatore segment has grown four folds in the past few years. We do not have any direct trains from Bangalore to Coimbatore and vice versa which makes it very difficult for commuters.

We are looking forward for a railway initiative to start services between the two cities which once complete, citizens who have been facing lot of difficulties in traveling to and fro would benefit greatly in terms of saving a lot of time and getting a hassle free travel.

Many people originating from Coimbatore have settled in Bangalore be it for professional, business or educational reasons and this service of introducing super fast trains between the two junctions would bring relief and would save all of them a lot of trouble.

My petition asks that the railway authorities look into this seriously and introduce the services as soon as possible.

1) Currently there is no direct train which starts from Bangalore (Origin) and goes to Coimbatore as the End Destination.

2) Either train starts from a different City or just passes through the City which means not always anybody gets ticket for the same easily because of heavy rush.

3) Lots of people travel every week, every day and there is no proper train connecting the two destinations.

4) Train should start and stop between these stations.

5) Lots of Private bus transports are available with VOLVO, AC SLEEPER, AIRBUS etc with lots of travel by people but train service is still a dream as getting tickets are not easy since train just passes through these destinations.

6) Bangalore is one of the Biggest IT Cities and Coimbatore is also developing as one of the Tier2 IT City, lots of travel between the 2 cities for Work, Education related, Business travel, Vacation related travels, yet no proper trains available.

7) Lots of new private bus companies start their service between these cities every now and then.

8) Rail Connectivity would be a good option for the mass public and could generate good revenue to the Indian/Southern Railway.

Fact file:

1. For Instance few major Private Bus Players like CONTI Travels has approx 6 buses/day, KPN has approx 8 buses/day both side and recently ABT Travels (formerly ABT Parcel Service) are plying with VOLVO, AC Sleeper Bus, and Air Bus etc with exhorbant prices.

2. During festival and other long weekend and Vacation
times the tickets are being sold in Black market and also all the private Bus players are coming up with Special Buses between Coimbatore and Bangalore (Afternoon and Night times).

3. Further every 15minutes there are buses which are going to Salem from Bangalore and also from Coimbatore to Salem which could tell approx the no. of people traveling in Bus everyday.

4. There are intermediate stations connecting Bangalore and Coimbatore which also has lot of people traveling between these cities viz Salem, Erode(Dyeing Industry), Tiruppur(Garment Export City) which has lots of Business travelers.

5. Flight service between Bangalore and Coimbatore has been increased these days with Air Deccan, Kingfisher joining with Jet Airways and Indian which had only the lone flier Jet Airways connecting Bangalore-Coimbatore which speaks about the Volume of travel increase between these cities.

15. Music Free Buses...and Trains!

This petition is designed to combat the growing use of mobile phones and mp3 players to play music out loud without headphones by passengers on public transport.

Although our campaign originally targeted London Buses, having received feedback from around the country, we decided to extend it to cover all train, tram, bus and underground services nationwide.

Existing transport regulations state that passengers should not use sound reproducing equipment to the annoyance of any person on the vehicle or in a manner which is likely to cause annoyance to any person. This includes mobile phones and mp3 players used without headphones. We believe that such byelaws should be publicised and enforced to a much greater extent by public transport companies.

Easily noticeable posters and warning signs on the buses and trains would go a long way towards supporting the rights of passengers to a quiet and peaceful journey. They would also give support to passengers who choose to confront those who show a lack of respect and consideration whilst using public transport.

The original petition of over 4,500 signatures was presented to Transport for London on 6th December 2006 and will be presented in the House of Commons on 11th December 2006.

We feel it is very important to show public transport companies the exact scale of this issue. Please add your experiences, thoughts and suggestions in the comment field when signing the petiton so that we can pass them on.

It is also very useful if you include your usual bus/train route as it provides an idea of just how widespread the problem is.

16. Save our services

When the new East London Line arrives in 2010, it will mean severe and unacceptable cuts to our existing train services to and from London Bridge. We are asking for your help to fight these cuts by signing our petition.

- Direct trains to and from London Bridge are likely to be cut to four trains per hour.
- This is a reduction from the current service of six trains off peak and more at peak times.
- There will be an extra eight trains per hour on the East London Line stopping at Sydenham and Forest Hill but these will only be four carriages long, with limited seating available.
- Cuts are proposed to the Clapham Junction and Victoria service from our stations, possibly removing this service entirely.
- With these proposed cuts it is likely that London Bridge services will become even more congested than at present.

It is vital that we keep our existing level of services to and from London Bridge

We are not opposed to the new East London line - we warmly welcome it - but this should not be introduced at the cost of existing services.

This petition has been produced by the Forest Hill Society and is supported by the Sydenham Society.

Trains kill people every year. They should not be running in our cities. Starting in Delaware, we will soon sweep around the world; Removing railroad tracks and liberating our planet earth from steel shackles.

19. Stop Parking on Pavements and dangerous areas on Stroudley Way

March 10, 2006

Recently the Train station has become far busier and its car park cannot cope with the amount of cars. So motorists have parked down one side of Stroudley Way.

However because of the increase in Cars they are now parking on pavements making it difficult to exit driveways / Junctions and although this has been reported to the Police nothing has been done as it is seen as a low priority.

Hedge End _ Grange Park is a Low crime area and we pay the council tax to police it that way. SO WHER ARE THEY?

It is against The Road Traffic Act 1991 c.40 to park on the pavements and across driveways. It will devalue your house (should yu wanty sell it by 10 - 15k).

21. CityRail Trains Never on time

NSW Transport Minister Michael Costa has become the "Goldilocks" of state parliament, with conditions either too hot or too wet for Sydney's trains to run on time, the state opposition said.

Releasing coalition figures, opposition transport spokesman Mike Gallacher said that just under one million people ran late on the city's rail system this week, as 1,100 trains ran four minutes or more behind schedule.

Of the 925,000 people in Sydney the opposition estimated ran late, more than 400,000 people were delayed by 10 minutes or more, Mr Gallacher said.

"This week, without a doubt, goes down as the worst week in recent history for the NSW public transport system," he told reporters in parliament.

"On October 1, CityRail blamed the weather ... they said the wet weather was responsible a 10 per cent (of trains running on time) result.

"On October 13, the hottest day recorded, once again they blamed the weather.

Blame Who? We just want our trains to run on time. I'm sure our tax dollars can give us this.
