1. Allowing Ground and Pound in Florida Amateur Mixed Martial Arts
Florida Boxing Commission passed the ruling to allow Amateur Mixed Martial Arts back in Florida on July 7, 2010. Rules and regulations state that ground and pound is not allowed in amateur mixed martial arts.
The definition of ground and pound is defined as to describe a fighting style or technic. To take one's opponent to the ground, establish a dominant position. Usually a top position (i.e., mount, side mount, half mount, etc. can also be used while in one's "guard"). Reign down closed fist punches to the head while on the ground. After amateur mixed martial arts fighters have attained 5 verifiable amateur fights in Florida, they qualify to become Professional fighters.
The issue we have is that without amateur fighters gaining any experience on ground and pound before going Pro, we the (Association) feel it is very dangerous on these fighters entering Professional status without exercising the experience.
A solution that can be made is to revise this particular rule and that once the Amateur fighters have reached 5 amateur mixed martial arts fights, they become eligible to become semi professional, or advanced amateur fighters, and to allow them to experience ground and pound like it is at the Professional level. All protection rules of 7 oz gloves and shin guards remain the same.
2. Magnetic Levitation Transportation for Britain
Throughout the world, the seeds of the next generation magnetic levitation (maglev) transport technology are taking root.
China’s Shanghai is currently home to the only commercial maglev line in the world, thanks to German research and development. Maglev projects have been proposed in various nations throughout the world, including the United States, Brazil, Australia, Germany, India, Japan, China, The United Emirates, Spain, and Iran. Germany is not the only country leading the world in developing maglev technology, but Japan too.
The United Kingdom also experimented with the technology. During the 60’s and 70’s, whilst research into the Advanced Passenger Train (APT) was being carried out by British Rail, Professor Eric Laithwaite and a team of engineers worked on the Tracked Hovercraft project.
The Tracked Hovercraft project evolved into the first ever commercial maglev line to be opened in 1984, 20 years before the Shanghai maglev opened to the public in 2004.
A lot has changed since 1984, and Britain’s transport is once again ready to modernise, but unlike many of our European competitors, Britain lacks a High Speed railway network. Britain's current rail system is incompatible with existing high speed rail on the European continent.
This calls for a segregated high speed system, like Japan's Shinkansen, from which the technology for the Class 395 EMU train running the HS1 line, Japan is also switching to maglev for their future system extension. For these reasons, it is so important for Britain to modernise.
But why modernise if Britain can leap forward a generation? Maglev is the next generation, and it is coming, in some countries it is already there, and we the undersigned do not want Britain to be one step behind.
Maglev will bring people together.
With a trip from Manchester to Liverpool taking only 10 minutes, Birmingham to Manchester 20 minutes, and London to Birmingham 30 minutes, economies will be merged together.
The North-South divide will be eliminated, and people will find themselves half an hour away from a new opportunity.
Maglev will create opportunities, both directly, in maintenance, construction and the general running of maglev itself, and indirectly, by the opportunities it will bring closer to people and the businesses it will attract.
High technology businesses always follow high technology infrastructure, and maglev is high technology, it will bring growth on an industrial scale, just like another British invention, the railway, helped fuel the Industrial Revolution.
Maglev will champion the Green Economy.
Air travel is Britain’s single greatest contributor to CO2 emissions; maglev is faster, greener, and cheaper than short haul flights. With people travelling by maglev train, domestic air travel will decrease, along with the CO2 emissions they produce, freeing up runways for more profitable international flights.
We the undersigned believe that magnetic levitation technology is in the national interest, and will make Britain faster, greener, and stronger for the future. We can hope that the next generation will be the Maglev Generation.
We, the residents of Cassia County are strongly opposed to the proposed corridor of the Gateway West Project through private property.
We feel it should be placed on as much public ground as possible to protect our families, our homes, and our businesses.
We should not have to submit ourselves to undo risks when there are other alternatives. We support our county commissioners in routing the project through public grounds.
4. Allow Temporary Inflatable Pools
According to Westshore Subdivisions original bylaws, it was stated that Above Ground Pools were not allowed. Above Ground Pools are permanant and year round pools. Up until this summer, many families in the subdivisions have had Temporary Inflatable Pools.
It was only until the past year that there have been a few complaints, thus changing the bylaws without a consensus or formal vote. As homeowners, we want to be able to enjoy summer family activities in our yards.
5. No to Inappropriate Redevelopment of St Alphage House in the City of London for JPMorgan
JPMorgan Chase is working in partnership with property development company Hammersons and the City of London Corporation to create a 950,000 sq ft building on a relatively small site in the City of London which immediately adjoins the residential Barbican Estate, home to some 5,000 people, and a Grade II listed building.
If approved, the JP Morgan office block be the largest building in the City and will completely overshadow and wall-in the Eastern side of the Barbican.
Currently the site contains generous open space and public gardens, raised above the ground, with interconnecting pedestrian bridges. These walkways form several access routes to the Barbican, which keep pedestrians away from the noise and hazards of London Wall - a major East-West traffic artery through central London. The proposed scheme will remove these, and create a somewhat smaller park at ground level immediately next to this busy road.
What are currently pleasant and safe pedestrian-only routes will be replaced by busy street-level crossings and streetside pavements. It will close and also build over an ancient city street - Fore Street - creating a large and impermeable block in the heart of the City.

10. Ban Rodeos in the United States
Rodeo promoters say that the animals are wild and rough, but without the use of spurs, tail-twisting, and bucking straps cinched tightly around their abdomen and groin, these frightened and often docile animals wouldn't even buck.
They are terrorized into action when men shove electric prods into them, twist their necks, yank them by their tails or legs, slam them to the ground, or otherwise batter them. The fact that most of these innocent animals are eventually destined for the slaughterhouse in no way justifies compounding their agony along the way.
This is an "entertaining, family event"? I don't think so. In steer wrestling, the so-called cowboy twists a steer's neck until it falls to the ground, more often than not, breaking the neck of the steer. The fact is, rodeos are flat-out cruel to animals. This is not a sport, this is a gathering for animal abusers.
The bulls and horses used for the "wild bucking event" are shocked numerous times with a device that will deliver 5,000 volts of electricity into the animal. No contestant in the rodeo will have it used on them, even when SHARK(www.sharkonline.org, and www.rodeocruelty.com) offered them $300 to try it out.
Many of the animals used in rodeos end up with internal bleeding, punctured lungs, broken limbs, etc.
You can learn even more about this cruelty by visiting the site that was listed above.

15. Build a Peace Park on site of World Trade Towers
This is a call for developers not to build on the site of ground zero where so many people lost their lives. Instead a park dedicated to peace should be set-up with waterfalls, statues, benches and paths dedicated to the victims and their families.
