1. Keep Prince Philip Elementary School Open in Ainslie Wood 
Prince Philip Elementary School is an integral part of the Ainslie Wood neighbourhood.
We deeply believe the best interests of its students are served by keeping the school open.
The EMSB wants to close Bancroft Elementary to "offer the best we can give them in terms of an educational experience". Give me a break! Bancroft has been part of Montreal for generations and for good reason.
Not only are we the only school located in front of the biggest green space in Montreal but academics take a front seat. With an intense english and french program and so many extra-curricular activities I can proudly say that we are offering them the best in terms of an educational experience.
And with the most dedicated teaching staff I know these children are growing morally and emotionally in an atmosphere of cooperation and support. There is no choice.

3. Opposition to the LISD Attendance Board Committee's Proposal
• The committee states that NBCD 4250 (Vista Ridge and Falcon Oaks) need to be rezoned to Bagdad Elementary to relieve Whitestone Elementary School of overcrowding.
• Vista Ridge was not represented on the Attendance Boundary Committee.
• Whitestone Elementary currently is not over-crowded with 786 kids.
• The committee states that NBCD 4400 (neighborhood behind Lowe's) needs to move all of their students to Whitestone Elementary to relieve crowding at Winkley Elementary. Currently 31 students from the ESL program attend Whitestone. This will add 39 additional students to Whitestone Elementary School.
• Whitestone still will not be functionally over-crowded with the move of the additional 39 children from NBCD # 4400. However, by moving the 150 students from the NBCD 4250 (Vista Ridge and Falcon Oaks) to Bagdad Elementary it will make Bagdad over-crowded at close to 900 children in 2011-2012, having the highest enrollment in the district. Therefore, the most-consistently lowest-rated elementary school in the district will be over-populated next school year, and the student-to-teacher ratio will be negatively impacted.
• Meanwhile, Whitestone Elementary is projected to have only 637 students for 2011-2012.
• The zoning committee's presentation disclosed that 210 students currently transfer out of Bagdad, which is higher than the number of children that live in NBCD #4250.
• Page 5 of the committee's recommendation shows that after four short years, Bagdad's enrollment will be well over capacity at a whopping 1047 students. Meanwhile, Whitestone is projected to be at only 765 students in 2015.
• LISD states that in 2015 they expect to open a new elementary school, shifting students around again and rezoning Vista Ridge once again.
• Vista Ridge Parents have made up a significant number of Whitestone Volunteers and PTA Board Members for six years, which will end if our students are moved to another school. We will not be able to reap the benefits of our hard work by leaving a school we have vested so much into.
• Vista Ridge will experience a decline in property values due to the zoning of our neighborhood to a school with a long history of poor performance
• It is not in the best interest of the children to transfer them from a school at which they are currently successful and feel safe, to a traditionally low-scoring school in a possible attempt to bolster test scores. The children of NBCD 4250 have been thriving at Whitestone. Studies show that moving children repeatedly to different schools effects their academic development, social development, sense of security and behavior.
• Simply enforcing the existing attendance zones, and not allowing an exorbitant amount of kids to transfer out, would provide relief to Plain and Whitestone, thereby avoiding the need to displace happy and thriving children from the school they are zoned for.
• The numbers just don't add up. There is still room for NBCD 4250 to stay at Whitestone!
4. Leave Parker-Egin Elementary as it is
Rondee has been at Parker for 15 years. District has other employees in place that are "directly related" and do not show a conflict of interest.
5. Help Save Rowland Elementary School
By now, we have all heard the distressing news of Rowland Elementary School being added to the list of possible school closings, due to a $115 million deficit in the DeKalb County School System.
At this time we are asking our Rowland community to come together to save Rowland. The community depends on this school to be there for the parents and our main focus-the children. For the past 43 years Rowland has provided quality education to our students, teachers that go beyond the point of duty, resource programs for parents, quality care and training for our special needs children cultural events to join for our Rowland family and the community together, among many other services our school has to offer.
We cannot allow for this to happen to our children and even future attendees of this area. Please join us in fighting for Rowland. Our children are worth this fight; your child’s education journey starts here. Everyday here at Rowland we are laying the foundation for intelligence, dependability, honesty, citizenship, independence, self-esteem, and so many character and educational traits they will need not just for learning, but for life.
We as parents are not happy with closing down Rowland because of many different reasons. To name a few, where will our children be forced to attend school, how close will the new school be, are we as parents comfortable with the distance the children will have to ride the bus to school? Also, what will happen to our physical school building if left unattended? What will the community become of then?
6. Provide a stop light for Northside Apostolic Church
We the people of the community request a traffic light be installed at the intersection of Hwy 29 and 9 1/2 mile road located in North Pensacola. A traffic light is desperatley needed at the intersection of Hwy 29 and 9 1/2 mile rd. There have been numerous accidents with three of them causing fatalities in the past 4 months.
Members of Northside Apostolic rd located at the intersection fear for their life or that an accident may occur each night they head to church. Parents fear an accident may occur when arriving at this intersection on the way to taking their children to and from Pine Meadow Elementary School which is located close to the intersection as well.
Please help us as concerned people of the community to get a traffic light at this intersection before another fatality occurs.
7. Save Meadows Upper Elementary School
Due to Avondale School District's financial crisis a Building Utilization Study was conducted in the fall of 2009. This study was charged with the analysis of current and projected student enrollment, anticipated per pupil funding, residence trends, demographics, school building utilization, and school configuration.
The recommendation proposed was to close one of the five elementary schools in the district. The result of which will maximize opportunities for student achievement to deliver the best instructional program possible within the Avondale School District.
Homeowners, parents, and residents in and around the Rose Drive Elementary School area are facing a huge potential problem: The PYLUSD School Board is considering closing down this very high-performing elementary school, dispersing its several hundred students, and replacing the student population with continuation high school students.
For families whose children attend Rose Drive, the closure of the school creates many problems entailing program accessibility, transportation, child care wait lists, and the like.
For homeowners and residents at large, ample research indicates that people are willing to pay a premium to live in high quality school attendance areas. Conversely, property value is decreased, often significantly, by undesirable school factors. There are crime, graffiti, and traffic issues that can be associated with this change, as well as the additional costs of more police presence being needed.
The School Board has 5.5 million dollars of bond money (the appropriate use of which is being investigated at present) with which to update the existing continuation high school. Without having even opened for bids, and lacking any substantial supporting facts or figures for this proposal, the Board claims this is not enough and they must instead move the campus to Rose Drive. They have summarily dismissed other options without any explanation.
This is not acceptable.
9. Fire Lamya Cammon's Teacher
In December 2009, a Congress Elementary School teacher cut a braid from 7 year old Lamya Cammon in front of her class as a punishment for playing with them and threw it away. Lamya cried at her desk while the rest of the class laughed at her. The teacher continues to teach, has not been identified, and the District Attorney has decided NOT to press charges, but the teacher was fined $175 for Disorderly Conduct... WHAT?
Instead of just commenting on articles and blogging, you can do something to help maker sure this teacher never teaches again in her life and possibly goes to prison.
10. Permit Imagine Boys and Girls Academy to Utilize Morningside Elementary as a K-8 School Facility
Morningside Elementary School, part of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), was closed after the 2008-2009 school year as a part of the PGCPS Phase I Consolidation process.
All former Morningside Elementary School students have been reassigned to other schools, leaving the Town of Morningside as the only municipality without its own elementary school.
11. Review Student Safety Policies
Recently my 8 year old daughter who was supposed to stay in an afterschool childcare program, was accidentally put on the school bus to ride home. Upon arriving home to an empty house, her bus driver let her off of the bus and left her untill 5:30 in the afternoon. The transportation department claims that they are only responcible for preschoolers and kindtergardeners. I as a parent am outraged at the fact that is is ok for our school system who are responcible for our children, to just be allowed to drop elementary aged school children off regaurdless of age or supervision.

All bus drivers shall meet the qualifications of and be in compliance with the responsibilities noted in Kentucky Administrative Regulations.
Walkthrough at End of Run
Bus drivers shall conduct a walkthrough of their buses at the end of each run to ensure that all students have disembarked at their designated stops.
Disciplinary Action
Bus drivers who fail to observe/perform their responsibilities shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary action.

Regular Bus Stops
Discharge of Pupils
The bus driver shall discharge pupils at their regularly scheduled stops only, except with written authorization from the Principal to discharge a pupil at another location.1 Preschool students shall be transported in accordance with applicable regulations.2
The Principal shall have a written authorization from a child's parents before permitting discharge at a location other than the regular stop.
Exception
The driver may discharge a pupil for disciplinary reasons in accordance with Policy 06.34 of this manual and with 702 KAR 005:080.1

12. Remove School Song - Student Petition
We have an opinion that this so-called “school song” is highly offending to us.
We have contemplated that the song that plays every morning is inferior for us and attracts negative attention at Heritage when we graduate from Oakbrook. Many people have stated that they “have heard it from Heritage Junior High.”
13. Demanding change in our education system
I am writing as a concerned parent of a student who is to be attending kindergarten in the year 09/10. I currently live in Clintondale which is Porter township. I was supposed to register my daughter for kindergarten this year and I am struggling with the fact that the KCSD is purely being run by power and money. Here is my story: My daughters designated school is Robb elementary. Now I am sure all of you who don't know about the "policies" are wondering why Robb when this family lives in Clintondale. Yes, I thought the same thing. So I called to get answers. And like we all know nobody ever has any. I do not want my daughter to go to Robb for the fact that it is so big. It has three kindergarten classes and Lamar Township only has 12 students in their kindergarten. This is pure ludicrous. Not only that but the fact I am going to pass three yes that's right three other elementary schools before I get to Robb. So many students are falling between the cracks of the education system and the district is allowing this to happen. I want my daughter to go to a school where to is going to get the attention that every student deserves. Next year so far there is only 25 students going to Mill Hall elementary in the kindergarten class.
Now also attending Lamar Township is a little girl who her designated school was Robb but she is being allowed to go to Lamar for the simple fact that her mother went to a board meeting and said I live in Porter Township and if my daughter goes to Robb then she will make friends in Lock Haven and I will have to drive her to Lock Haven to play with her friends. So they passed it and allowed her to go to Lamar Township.... and you call this justification. Absolutely not....I want to send my daughter to a school where I know she is going to get the education she deserves and we are going to put social power over that. Where does it end??
That's my question to you? When are we as citizens going to stand up and say ya know this mother has a point. There was a study done by a group of people who were concerned about the education system over the entire country. Whether your going to the suburbs of San Fransisco or a small town like Mill Hall/ Lock Haven results all came out pretty much the same and the results will blow you socks right off.
It was a study on students who have dropped out of school and we currently have about 30% of students dropping out and 45% of those students said that they dropped out in high school because during their elementary education years they were simply not prepared to handle the knowledge at the high school level. WHAT?!?!? That is what is going on here folks. That is what is going on. When I called the attendance office, transportation office, and the superintendents office and said all I am asking is for justification for my child going to a school that is in Lock Haven when I have an elementary school 2 miles from my house they all said the same thing....that is what the board passed. Blows me away. So in closing here is what my conclusion is.
My daughters education will be determined my a handful of people who all have political power and a better social status than John Doe down the street. Is that really justification? And at the end of the day who are we??? It is a question that we as citizens need to really think about. This is a serious situation and I am sure I am not the only mother or parent for that matter who has the same concerns. Let's come together as a community and make our education system what it needs to be. Or we will just be another statistic?
14. Revisions to the Windermere Boulevard Elementary School Rules
Windermere Boulevard Elementary recently instituted a set of rules in its public school as outlined in its Parent Guide to Character Education.
Concurrent with the implementation of this set of rules, the school presented students and parents with a contract, which obligates students and parents to support the school rules.
We disagree with the idea that families are accountable to the public school system for the development of moral character in children.
Additionally, the nature of many of the rules and the methods of punishment which are being used to enforce them are unreasonable.
The “New School” at Stackpole Rd and High St has a projected cost of $20 Million – which is due to rise yearly. The cost to renovate Hilltop Elementary School has not been researched since 1999 (which was approximately $3.084 Million).
The cited reasons for a new school are overcrowding in Maplewood and the Middle School, and that Hilltop renovation isn’t worth taxpayers’ dollars. Former councilor Todd Marsh told Fosters that City Council was “making the decision [to buy the land for the New School] to have an option.”
Since that decision passed back in December 2007, it has remained the only option for the future of our children. An ad-hoc reuse committee was established for the sole purpose, as Mike Micucci puts it, of finding uses for Hilltop other than a school.
Consider this petition our demand for a second option – to find what it would cost to renovate/update Hilltop Elementary School.
16. Mary St & Metropolitan Pkwy traffic signal
Children who attend Gideons Elementary School on Mary St have no safe option for crossing Metropolitan Pkwy, the closest intersection to the school heading West.
17. Safer Walkway to Snow Horse Elementary School
We propose that sidewalks from 200 North to Snow Horse Elementary be installed in order for these children to have a safe walkway to school.
Studies have shown that there are more accidents in areas without sidewalks. For example, in 2005, Lee County, FL led Florida in car accidents hitting children under the age of 14. Studies further went to show that most of those accidents took place in areas without sidewalks.
Let us learn from previous mistakes and install sidewalks on this strip of road BEFORE we have the problem of having children being hit by cars.
Whereas the Halifax Regional School Board is planning a series of consultations with the Halifax Citadel family of Schools entitled "IMAGINE OUR SCHOOLS", with the view of creating a 10 year Facilities Master Plan and;
Whereas St. Catherine’s school, located at 3299 Connolly Street, is a Primary to Grade 6 school with a French Immersion (Early Immersion) program and
Whereas the purported utilization rate of the St. Catherine’s school facility is 57%;
19. Eureka City Schools Consolidation
Eureka City Schools is recommending the elementary schools be reconfigured from the current kindergarten-to-fifth-grade structure to two schools for kindergarten through second grade, and two schools for students in grades three to five.
With the starting times of all four schools varying.
20. Students should be allowed inside!
It's a dark stormy day. Many students sit shivering in a small covered area.. hoping that they will be let inside.
The students at Stawamus Elementary have had to suffer by being sent out into the cold at many times:when they arrive at school, at recess, at lunch...
All they ask is to be let inside when the weather is bad. Have we gotten what we wanted? No. We have been told to put on our jackets and go outside. Please sign this petition so that students at Stawamus will have a chance to be let inside during those horribly stormy cold days.
21. Safe and New Playground for Valleydale Elementary School
The parents of Valleydale Elementary School students wish to petition for a Safe and New Playground.
Providing a new playground will help students stay interested in stimulating the athletic, artistic and creative skills in them.
Although we have seen some improved look at the school, mainly landscaping during the summer vacation, perhaps replacing a playground that has been sitting there for some more then 15+ years would have brought some better modification.
Parents are encouraged to inquire about the successes and problems of the school for which their children attend and show an active interest in their children's education and safety development.
To that end both must strive to provide for the physical and mental well-being of all students.
22. Say 'No' to French centres
In the Phase II Renewing Regina Public schools report, one of the proposed options at the elementary level is to abandon the current dual-track French Immersion program and establish a few French Centers in its place (single-track).
This means that many of the current French Immersion school programs will leave the community school and students bussed to centralized schools.
Parents do not want to see the French program further pushed away from mainstream and made to be seen as ‘different’ to only integrate back into a French and English program in High School. We believe it is good for French and English students to have a relationship within the same school to further promote understanding of Canada’s second language rather than make those differences more apparent.
Parents do feel it more efficient to spend time learning how to better ‘integrate’ the dual track system at Hawrylak and other schools. We do not see the value in your proposed suggestions; let’s make our current system stronger!
Parents choose their community school French Immersion program to provide an opportunity for their children’s education. However if forced with the difficult decision of community versus French, typically 1/3 or more will not leave their community school. This means French Immersion enrolment will drop 33% across the board. Our vision includes more children in French, not less! Let’s provide children opportunities.

WHAT IS THE NEGATIVE IMPACT?
• There will be a significant decrease in the number of students enrolled in French Immersion.
• Children segregated into far-away French centers.
• Children segregated at the elementary level based on English and French but then placed in a dual-track system in high school. Will students feel part of the high school, or more like outsiders? Will they be treated like outsiders?
(2006 RPS Annual Report “Regina Public Schools teaches students values such as respect, responsibility, and belonging.”)
• French and English students displaced from their family, friends and community.
• French-Immersion system in transition can be difficult for the children, parents and teachers if not effectively managed.
• Increased bussing needs and time, earlier school start times 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. replacing 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Siblings in different schools because one is in French and one is in English.
• Students leaving French and transferring to English to stay in their local community school.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE CURRENT DUAL-TRACK SYSTEM?
It is beneficial for French and English students to work together within the same school to promote tolerance towards Canada’s second language rather than accentuate those differences through segregation.
Learning from diversity, exposure to diversity, development of cultural tolerance.
It is consistent at the elementary level and in high school.
Providing non-French speaking parents a better choice to enhance their children’s education when accessible in the community.
Parents are more likely to be engaged in their child(ren)’s school when that school is a part of the parents community.
It is not elitist, it is inclusive.
The system is producing highly competent French speaking students!
Research indicates that French centre students were perceived by both teachers and students to be exposed to more French and less peer pressure than their dual-track counterparts. However, that same research also determined there were no significant differences between the two groups in regards to student use of French or student and teacher satisfaction with the program.1
23. Playground Saftey At Heritage Elementary School
OUR CHILDREN ARE AT RISK ON THEIR SCHOOL PLAYGROUND.
SEVERAL STUDENTS HAVE BEEN INJURED IN THE PAST AND THIS YEAR ON THE MONKEY BARS.
THESE INJURIES HAVE INCLUDED FACIAL LACERATIONS, BROKEN OUT TEETH, AND BROKEN BONES.
24. Concerned Parents of Vickers
Vickers Elementary is the host campus to the Children from The Devereux
Facility and the A.B.L.E program.
The children from the Devereux facility are bused to the campus from
Devereux. In the past they were taught at their campus and then at the school
near by their campus. Many of these children were removed from their home
due to special needs and have behavior problems.
The children in the A.B.L.E program are from all the campuses in VISD. Vickers
is the campus for the children in 4th and 5th grade who have been removed
from their classrooms at their school. They have been removed due to their
behavior problems and are sent to other campuses depending on their grade
level. The 4th and 5th grade children are being sent to Vickers under the
A.B.L.E program because they can not function in the classroom at their school
due to their behavior but are being placed in the classrooms with the Vickers
Students.
The children are causing education disruptions as well as threatening the safety
of the other children. Many children have left the campus because they are
fearful of going to class. Not all children have the ability to leave the campus.
We are asking that the Superintendent and the VISD school board address the
concerns of the parents of Vickers students.
1. Remove the children in these programs from the classrooms and/or from the
campus.
2. Hold a meeting ASAP to discuss what will be done to address the concerns of
the parents.
25. Change in parking rules for Bartlett Elementary School
The children should not be let out of school into an unattended alley way which flows into a very busy parking lot.
The alley way will pose problems in the winter months when snow and ice are in season and children can slip and fall injuring themselves.
The children not only have the potential of being abducted in an unsupervised alley way but also are being put into harms way having to walk through an occupied and busy parking lot.
26. Pedestrian Bridge to Ambuehl Elementary
Provide a pedestrian and equestrian bridge from bike path close to Paseo Esteban to North western side of Ambuehl Elementary.
Traffic has conjested La Novia during school hours. Many children ride bikes from neighboring houses South of La Novia/Calle Arroyo. They must commute all the way down the bike path across a narrow bridge that is shared with vehicles.
Eventually, bikes could be ridden to new San Juan Hills high school without the danger of riding on Ortega Highway.
27. Secure Placement of Existing Vintage Ranch Students in Spectrum Elementary

We have recently learned that existing students who attend Spectrum Elementary who reside in Vintage Ranch are considered to be moved out to the new school #28.
Vintage Ranch students and their families who attend Spectrum Elementary have been with the school since its inception. We are the founding families for Spectrum Elementary School. We are outraged that our families' children are going to be considered to be transferred to the new school.
Spectrum Elementary has grown and is established today because of its families and students' contribution along with the incredible principal Mr. Hallock and his staff/teachers. We have all worked diligently over the past three 1/2 years to raise funding for school's necessary equipments, landscaping, books, and necessary materials such as sun shades for play ground structures.
We have formed a bond within our school community which is enviable compared to any other school. After solidifying our place in a school where we believed that our children will graduate from, we are now threatened to vacate our rightful place.
At a meeting which held place at Spectrum Elementary on February 22, 2007, all but one person was happy with the new boundary proposed which included East of Gilbert, South of Williams Field, West of Val Vista, and North of Pecos. Many people left feeling secure and safe that the outcome would be guaranteed and that the new boundary made most logical sense. And now after a Board meeting held on February27, 2007, someone brought up the idea that only Vintage Ranch will be carved out to be sent to the new school, and this is based solely on number 150 which will fill up the new school. This idea is preposterous because it doesn't take many important factors into consideration.
First of all, this will destroy our kids and families' relationships and undermine our community as a whole. Secondly, this will single out our community among the "Ranches" and devalue our property value. It is a fact that income, education, and property value are correlated to excellency of schools. If Vintage Ranch is linked to a school where the demographics are vastly mixed with apartment community and town homes, this will definitely drag our property values down.
We believe that the new school being built should be reserved for students who will reside in housings that are currently in construction as well as people who live closer to the news school which would be East of Val Vista and South of Pecos.

I have been working on this for over 2 years ever since my daughter was grabbed around the neck while under the supervision of the West Hurst Elementary Staff.
29. Activities For Girls At Recess at Tara Hills Elementary

The boys play different sports during recesses. They get plenty of exercise.
But most girls do not want to play sports, so we have nothing to do. We either walk around aimlessly, or sit there doing nothing.
We dread recess!
