Petition Background (Preamble):
The Vigo County School Board of Trustees is currently discussing the issue of installing artificial turf on the football fields of three Vigo County High Schools. The cost of this project would be between 1.6 and 1.9 million dollars. If you are not aware, the school buildings themselves are in great distress. Mice run through the school and teachers have had to catch the rodents by themselves.
In addition, the roofs always seem to leak at one time or another and the auditoriums are embarrassing. The VCSC is re-financing school bonds for the total of 3 million dollars.

We, the undersigned, call on the Vigo County School Board of Trustees to vote against the installation of artificial turf on high school football fields and to improve the learning environment first.
