1. Require Storm Shelters in all Missouri Public Schools 
Missouri is a state located within the region known as "Tornado Alley". In 2011, Joplin was struck by one of the most devastating tornadoes in our country's history.
Recently, Moore, OK was struck by a storm of similar magnitude. Each of these storms struck schools and lives were lost needlessly.
Had these schools and others been required to have storm shelters on site, lives may have been saved.
A petition to put prayer back in schools.
3. Complete the Development in Lugari
Branch of MMUST has since stopped construction.
Take measures to revive it and complete the structure.
Wrexham Council is planning to cut school buses in certain areas completely only weeks after fares on subsidised school buses were increased by 50% to £1.70.
The proposals to withdraw all subsidised school buses will see children stranded at bus stops. When elected, this Labour council said education was its top priority, so why are they are planning to withdraw all school buses affecting hundreds of children travelling to schools each day?

5. Longstone Road, Moneydarragh Primary School Road Safety Petition
For a number of years now local residents, concerned parents and local & national elected officials have been requesting DRD NI/Roads Service take action and make safe a short stretch of the Longstone Road in Annalong Co.Down leading to Moneydarragh Primary School.
Having recently returned to the the area where I grew up I was delighted to be sending my son the the local primary school I attended 30 years ago. The school is a mere 3-4 mins walk from our new home along a scenic country road but there is no footpath to allow safe travel and we are forced to walk on the actual road surface where cars pass at speed with a speed limit in place of 60Mph!
I approached the local District office for Roads Service NI and requested they trim and maintain the road side verges and bushes therein to at least allow pedestrians to use the amble space available to make the short journey to the school safely AND to allow approaching traffic a full unobstructed view of the road in both directions for both their own safety and the pedestrians.
To date Roads Service NI have refused to carry out this simple task and having lobbied several members of the local department responsible as well as local elected council members, NI Assembly members and even MP Roads Service still to date have refused to carry out the work requested. Other factors that need to be addressed beyond the simple upkeep of this short stretch of road are the urgent requirement for a footpath and speed restrictions and traffic calming measures to ensure the maximum possible safety of all road users be they pedestrians or drivers.
With this in mind please sign this petition - we have yet another site meeting with roads service scheduled of May 17th 2013 and I want to present them with this petition to pressure them into taking immediate action.
6. Build a new and purpose built school for Ayr Grammar
In 2001, before any of the children at the Grammar were even born, all schools in Scotland were surveyed in the lead up to the introduction of the Curriculum for Excellence. Schools were considered for both Condition, and Suitability.
Ayr Grammar was defined as:-
Condition B - Performing adequately but showing minor deterioration.
Suitability D - Bad. Does not support the delivery of services to children and communities.
Since this assessment, the condition has, to some extent been addressed, although not entirely. Some 12 years on however, Ayr Grammar is still defined as Suitability D.
Indeed, it is the only school in South Ayrshire with this grading.
Why is this?
In 2003, South Ayrshire Council placed Ayr Grammar at the top of a list of priority schools requiring either significant refurbishment, or, in the case of the Grammar, relocating to a new site with a complete rebuild. A search took place to find a suitable site, and you may remember The Old Racecourse was proposed. This was a controversial choice, and was subsequently rejected by the Council in 2005. A further consultation took place between the Council, parents and the wider community to find an alternative which was acceptable to all.
In 2009, it was proposed to relocate the Grammar to the old Seafield Hospital site. This proved to be as problematic as the previous proposal since not only was the site owned by Ayrshire and Arran Health board, but, more importantly, the old hospital building was “B listed”.
In January 2012, Historic Scotland refused permission to have the old building demolished, effectively ending any possibility of the site being suitable to relocate the Grammar.
Where are we now?
Effectively, nothing has changed since that initial assessment, over a decade ago. The Grammar is still defined as “unfit for delivery of services to children and the community”. South Ayrshire Council have moved on with other schools, investing huge sums of money in rebuilding and refurbishing them. Meanwhile your children remain in a school which will never be able to fully deliver the type of education seen in more modern schools, despite the great work of the Grammar staff.
What do we want to happen?
We believe that South Ayrshire Council have shied away from addressing the most difficult issue in education in this county. The only sites suitable for relocating the school are politically controversial. We believe South Ayrshire Council needs to start an open and honest debate about the future of Ayr Grammar, and if necessary, make some difficult decisions. Its high time the Grammar children were taught in a brand new school building, fit for the curriculum in the 21st Century.
What can you do?
The Parent Council have created a petition to request South Ayrshire Council reopens the debate on Ayr Grammar.
Right now, there is a lack of federal funding for arts programs. Furthermore, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), school budget crunches have been a trend over the past couple years and span the entire nation.
These two factors place arts programs in danger of being cut. In addition, laws that emphasize standardized testing take away time in arts classes.
However, various studies have shown that music education can increase intellect and makes students happy.
8. Review the Unjust HESI practice @ITT Technical Institute Breckinridge School of Nursing
We the Nursing Students are not against ITT Technical Institute Breckinridge School of Nursing. We are also not against the HESI exit examination. We are against implementation of an unjust academic policy by ITT Technical Institute Breckinridge School of Nursing in the last quarter of our nursing program.
We the nursing students are against how ITT Technical Institute Breckinridge School of Nursing is using the HESI (Health Education System, Inc.) exit examination to hold our nursing degree although we have completed and successfully passed all other academic requirements. ITT's Breckinridge School of Nursing is trying to bolster their NCLEX pass rates by eliminating students that did not reach an 850 from the test pool. They are using the HESI exit exam as a means to protect their own pass rates as they seek accreditation. ITT’s nursing program has a pass rate of 100% as it stands, because not all of the students were allowed to sit for boards. This passing rate alone will attract new students to ITT’s nursing program at an already inflated $500+ a credit hour.
9. Trenode C of E School: Save our school car parking
Morval Parish Council have decided to sell Trenode Lane as it offers no enjoyment to the Parish.
Trenode School entered into an informal aggreement with the Parish Council to develop car parking space for staff and use the lane to access the school playing field.
The school would now like this agreement formalised before the lane is sold. This would safe guard car parking and ensure staff cars do not have to park on the road outside the front of the school causing congestion througout the school day.
10. Start a Wrestling Program for the Caney Valley Schools district
Wrestling is a sport that will help people increase in speed and strength.
Not only that but wrestling will teach many student athletes to be dedicated to something and teach them obedience.
11. More Bus Stops for SW Oklahoma City
The Oklahoma Public School District’s Department of Transportation has a rule in place the only allows bussing for school age children who live further than 1.5 miles from the school they’re attending. The children that live closer, have to either walk, sometimes across busy intersections, or be driven to school; this includes children that live right next to a bus stop.
We are proposing adding a bus stop for children that have no other alternative way to get to school safely.
The route currently taken in the morning by the school bus is 3.42 miles, and takes a total drive time of 10 minutes. The proposed new morning route would take 11 minutes and the new distance would be 3.62 miles. There are at least 10 children who would benefit from this bus stop. The route currently taken in the afternoon by the bus is 2.16 miles and takes 7 minutes.
The proposed new afternoon route would be 2.36 miles and take 7 minutes to drive. This would be a difference of 1 minute and .20 of a mile in the morning, and 0 additional minutes and .20 of a mile in the afternoon, and save roughly 10 children from having two walk and cross two extremely busy intersections.
12. Tougher Penalties for Passing Stopped School Bus
In March 2011, Nash County an 11 year boy was struck by a truck that passes a stopped school bus. There was another situation where a little boy was waiting on the bus and when crossing the road he was struck by a truck and the driver had been drinking. He was killed. In one day, there were a total of 3,196 counts of vehicles passing a stopped school bus in one day.
In the national count last year, there were a total of 88,025 violations in one day. Sure they passed a tougher penalty for drivers that hit and kill a child boarding the bus to a Class H felony, but do they have to wait for a child to be hit to enforce the harsher punishment.
13. No to Service Station Near Maleny State School
IGA (Maleny) has applied for a Material Change of Use to build an 8 pump petrol station and chemical storage facility on 19-21 Bunya St within 40 metres of Maleny State Primary School's classrooms.
Apart from the obvious safety and pollution concerns, being so close to developing children's brains, it is at the entrance to Maleny on a street that has no other industrial developments. The traffic at school drop-off and pick-up times is horrendous, indeed, it is thought to be one of the most dangerous school approaches in Queensland!
Furthermore, the sheer scale and position of the proposed development does not fit in with the town character, which is broadly traditional single-storey timber buildings set back from the roadway with muted earthy paint colours, no major company signage of the scale of a service station exists in the town.
14. Free School Meals for low income families
It is heart breaking hearing parents say that they do not send their kids to school because they have no money to give them for lunch or no food for a packed lunch.
It's saddening that children from low income families or single parents are not getting the education they need because there is no money for lunch.
I think the government should introduce Free School Lunches for children that do come from low income families and or single parents.
Children have the right the learn, they are our future. Don't we want children to be able to go to school and not grow hungry. They need their lunches to help them get through the day, and concentrate on their work. For some children that may be the only meal they have that day.
Better prepared children, means better test scores, brighter future for the children and the Australian society.
In the UK there is a system put in place, that if the child comes from a low income families and or single parents, that are entitled to any government support, they get free school meals.
Doesn't it make sense that the Australian government implements a similar system.
Please help us get the signatures for this issue to be take to the parliament, then hopefully we can help out those children that really do need it.
Recently we've had more events during the school year. These events help boost the happiness of students that attend RKA.
A lack of events can really hurt the health of the school. I was told to fight for what I think is right. This is definitely right.
Parents are being given the option to save the government from spending £10m needlessly on a new school with inferior facilities.
A public consultation has begun on proposals to merge Bispham and Collegiate High Schools, creating one sponsored academy.
The council bosses have said that if the merger is backed, there will be a choice between the existing Bispham buildings or a new multi-million pound building at the Collegiate site (a modular building which is only set to place 900 pupils). If the new building was given the go ahead, the existing performing arts facilities, affiliations to The Royal Ballet and the only performing arts college in Blackpool will be lost.
Bispham High School is part of the community and would decimate the area and local businesses if it was to close. The amount of children and teachers at Bispham High School add to the economy.
17. Supply our schools with Don't Bully(R) Products and Posters
Don't Bully(R) have been involved in the community since 2011 and within such time of just over one year, it has become more and more obvious with continued feedback from the community, that parents, teachers and children want to see this Don't Bully Message within their schools.
The Don't Bully Message must be active, displayed and worn to ensure all possible measures are taken ensure that others Don't Bully others.
Don't Bully(R) originated from one family who was tired of seeing everyone talk about this message but no one was doing anything about it. So they did and now it needs to be out their for everyone to see.
18. Arm our Schools and Children Against Terror (ASCAT)
Since the tragedy’s at Columbine High School on April 20th of 1999, our nation has bared witness to more than it's rightful share of school shootings, massacres and terrorists acts.
The most recent of such attacks happened on December 14, 2012, at Sandy Hooks Elementary School in Newton, CT killing 20 six and seven year old children and six adults. Our children are not safe. This cannot be tolerated any longer in simple hopes of a better solution. Our children have the right to go to school and be safe from the tyranny of terrorists.
It is up to you Mr. President and our respected, elected officials to grant us the means necessary to better arm our schools and shield our beloved. This threat cannot be solved by written law to try and deter terror. Taking away guns leaves our children left to fate and that’s a risk parents are not willing to take. We want our schools armed.
ASCAT demands that every school have at least one armed Police or Military Officer on campus during school hours and extended activities after school hours. The following is a list of other demands we want to see enforced:
1. Five willing and evaluated teachers from every campus to undergo police and firearm training, licensed to carry a concealed firearm.
2. Required firearm training and carrying license for the principal of every school and have them armed on campus.
3. Gun safes in classrooms of participating teachers and principals office to restrain access by students.
4. Panic buttons placed in every classroom with a unique sound that can be delivered throughout the school and to police to alert of terrorists attacks.
5. Teacher & Staff anti-terrorists seminars and workshops.
6. Act and Respond panic drills for students.
7. Locks on classrooms with reinforced doors and glass.
8. Better front door security and reinforcements.
9. Secondary devices such as electric tasers for participating teachers and principal.
10. Secondary reinforced door access to student population.
This isn’t a battle that is going to end without a fight. For the safety of our children and our educators we must arm our schools. It is just a matter of time before this happens again and when it does we must be ready.
You can’t stop a terrorist from attempting an attack, but you can stand up against them when the attack is made.
19. Update the security at our schools and keep our kids safe
My heart goes out to everyone touched by the senseless violence that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary.
The unspeakable school tragedies and shooting rampages in public areas have occurred all too frequently over the last several years, and makes them seem less random each time.
20. Arm School Staff
Stop blaming the NRA and blaming the responsible gun holders... stop trying to take our second amendment constitutional rights away.
Deputize all willing school teachers and staff, training them in proper defensive handgun procedures. Run them through a course at the local sheriff or police station.
Add a volunteer police station/office in every school.
21. Empower Our Teachers, Protect Our Children
To understand the gravity of the situation, you must simply examine the facts; no less than 259 school shooting related deaths have occurred since 1970.
Many Arkansans remember the incident at Westside Middle School in Jonesboro, AR, where four students and one teacher were killed. The recent Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting has once again showed us the vulnerabilities of our public schools. The deaths of children in public schools can and will be prevented with proper training and security. The added security this petition calls for would be provided by the people directly involved, the teachers.
Local law enforcement and skilled security professionals (most of which would more than happily volunteer their time) would provide the training needed and if there was a cost incurred the school districts would cover any and all expenses. I believe, teachers need to feel empowered and secure. This reassurance can come through proper training. It is important that all teachers working in the state of Arkansas receive a basic defensive course and hostage training focused directly on altercations involving firearms, knives and other dangers involved in school invasion scenarios.
The training would be designed especially for teachers and school administrators to further mitigate the risks posed to students and staff. I believe in conjunction with the training, personnel that excelled in these operations (as well as agreed) would also receive basic marksmanship training in small arms and be issued a handgun (provided by the state) and kept stowed away, only allowing the teacher issued access to the weapon. Individuals selected by the schools concealed carry program would be selected by the school administrators and the training personnel. In school districts that wished to do so the teachers with a concealed carry license could "carry" These individuals would remain nameless to students and other personnel. The classes would be made available to these individuals as well.
The local law enforcement departments and key administrators would maintain a registry of all teachers involved in the program and be required to provide continued training (annually). Response times for local law enforcement departments vary and the possible delays for their officers are endless; therefore, it is up to us, the competent and common sense Americans to empower our schools and help to provide an environment that reduces the danger to our children.
Due to the horrible and increasing number of school shootings, we the people would like to petition the state of Colorado to make Tasers a requirement for all teaching staff, and that there be one secured firearm available in case of emergency.
23. Putting Prayer Back in Public Schools
This is simply a request to put prayer back into the public schools for the safety of our country and the welfare of our future.
Prayer is powerful and without it, our schools, children will perish.
24. School Safety via Metal Detector Option
There are too many children and adults losing their lives to senseless violence in schools. All schools should be equipped with metal detectors, more security guards and more officers should patrol school areas to ensure some safety for our loved ones.
The use of metal detection devices can be authorized to provide building administrators with an option in the establishment of a safe and secure learning environment.
Metal detectors should never be viewed in isolation as an only option, but rather a component of a comprehensive school plan to maintain a safe and secure learning environment. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or prohibit the use of metal detectors at the discretion of the principal.
25. Stop Forcing School Children What to Eat
Mrs. Obama has been very serious to get children to eat better and healthier school lunches, going as far as trying to regulate what children are forced to eat in school is a violation of human basic freedom of choice.
The social indoctrination is dumbing down children by telling them what they must pick and eat from the lunch cafeteria by masking it by a choice they have to make, have one or the other and no other choice. Does this mean that parents are not able to teach their children what is good for them? Is the Government the way to go that knows what is best for us?
Don’t misunderstand this petition, we are not trying to remove healthy foods from school cafeteria, but our children should be able to choose whether they want to get vegetables, fruits or neither. Dictating a child to pick one or the other is not a choice but coerce a child to do something against their will, another form of indoctrination by giving a “choice”; a painted illusion of freedom of choosing not the children’s term or their own free will. When the government gets involved with people’s affairs there is always money wasting, abuse, stifling peoples freedom/rights, and corruption. If you force someone to take the vegetable or fruit without a third choice they will end up in the trash, needless to say that is money wasted that can be used for other educational purpose. What is next? Have a “garbage police” to ensure the children will eat and not waste the vegetables or fruits.
The government has grown crafty by painting a picture that we have freedom but what people don’t understand is the government is manipulate people through fear and other tactics. Here is one good example, 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Patriot Act was initiated and our privacy rights were taken for the good of “freedom” aka “Freedom through Fear Tactics”. The new fear is child obesity that needed to be addressed and force a child to eat what the big government says is best for them. This is another right and freedom a child/human being no longer has to enjoy, needless to say, one less parent right to educate their child on what is healthy or not.
Our concern is that the United States of America has started to become more like a Nanny State since the cold war has been over. Our freedom have been under constant attack not by enemy forces but by the malignant cancer that the government have formed by systematically taking our freedom away with fear tactics, dividing people in many labeled groups, i.e. liberals, conservatives, religious fanatics, crazies, encouraging and advocating multiculturalism, and no assimilation. This is the best way to keep all Americans dumbed down and divided therefore the government will not fear people because we are not one voice but many confused people running around like “a chicken with its head cut off”.
26. Start School (Qatar Academy) Later
The problem is that many students and a few teachers are late to first period class, and if they aren’t late, then they are not fully prepared mentally and or physically for that first period class. Teenagers should be getting at least 8 hours of sleep, and for many reasons that is not the case.
Students who come to school late or on time, are obviously not in the mood to do any work because their brain is not awake yet. Think of it as someone in coma. Although their soul is still there and they’re breathing, they’re not responding. That is the way students are all through first and second period class. Whichever subjects the students may be studying in first period class, is just as important as any other subject during the day, and with the way things are currently, students are half asleep during first lessons, which means that they are not fully understanding whatever they’re learning.
To sum it up, this is a problem for students mentally, physically and academically, and for teachers who would rather be chilling at home rather than teaching to a bunch of students whose only wish at the moment, is for the teacher to disappear so that they can get some sleep.
So, to solve this issue, we would like school to start at 8am, like many schools around the world do.
27. Allow students the freedom to participate in school & church related events
For the past six years, Central Baptist Church has been building an after school ministry for grades k-12. Until the fall of 2011 the attendance at this ministry was mainly K-6th graders.
The school supported the ministry by dropping off the elementary students (with parental permission) at the church after school. By the spring of 2012, the ministry began to reach the 7-12th graders. This is when the school stopped their full support. The school forced the students to choose between school and church by scheduling extracurricular practice during this ministry and enforcing punishment on the students when they chose church instead of school.
There were other times that the extracurricular activities could have been rescheduled to accommodate the ministry due to the fact that the ministry was taking place at the best possible time for optimal attendance. Also, cheer-leading practice for the junior high was moved intentionally to the ministry time slot so those students could no longer attend church. When the ministry leadership approached the school leadership, a compromise was made to allow the k-8th graders to attend the ministry from 4-5:30pm without school practice conflicts and the 9-12th grade to be released to attend the ministry from 5:30-7pm. The school did not keep their end of the compromise.
Therefore, this petition will give the parents and community a voice to urge the school to hold up their end of the compromise.
28. Save Bray Road Water Meadows
BRAY/MAIDENHEAD
There is growing opposition to local authority plans to build a 420-pupil school on the Water Meadows on Bray Road due to –
1 INCREASED TRAFFIC DANGER AND CONGESTION
The Council has proposed the scheme as a replacement for the existing 210-pupil site on Oldfield Road. The proposed development will have a capacity of 420 pupils, increasing the traffic and congestion in the area and the risk for children.
In addition, the existing Oldfield Road site is to be retained for subsequent development of yet another school to cope with population growth, mainly in the town centre. Traffic risk and congestion for residents in and around Oldfield Road will not improve and, in addition, at least twice as much traffic will be accessing the new site in Bray Road.
2 CHILD SAFETY
The proposed site backs onto a river (The Cut). This does not make it the ideal place to build a school for children as young as 4.
3 IT WILL DESTROY OUR GREEN BELT
The proposed construction site is on designated Green Belt water meadows along Bray Road adjacent to Chalgrove Close. It will further involve the damaging construction of a flood-compensation scheme inside the existing nature reserve in Braywick Park
4 IT THREATENS THE WORLD HERITAGE SITE/ SSSI ON BRAY ROAD.
Immediately adjacent to the proposed site are two meadows which have been designated a World Heritage Site and Site of Special Scientific Interest (“SSSI”), because of their extremely rare habitat and flora which have developed over hundreds of years. The proposed construction site has the same features. . Damage will result from construction and 420 children.
5 THE RISK OF FLOOD FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS WILL INCREASE.
The meadows are in a zone 3 flood plain. The Environment Agency has advised against development of a school on the Bray Road site, because it will increase flood risk for local residents. Given increasing rainfall and increasingly frequent floods in the UK, combined with the possibility that insurers will withdraw flood risk cover next year or charge greatly increased premiums, this is bad news.
6 URBANISATION - THE SPREADING OF MAIDENHEAD - GETTING EVER CLOSER TO ENGULFING BRAY
As building extends along the Bray Road, the distinct character of this picturesque and historic village will increasingly be encroached upon by Maidenhead’s sprawl.
THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES
The Council have not followed due process in consulting those who will be affected by this scheme and have not given due consideration to possible alternatives.
I live next to the High School, in Biddeford, Maine. During renovations at the High School, Ledgewood Construction damaged a fence that separates my property from the High School. The School Department wanted Ledgewood Construction to replace the fence.
In order to replace the fence along my property, Ledgewood Construction Company would have to cut down 10-12 trees on my side of the fence, that had grown into the fence over the years. The Facilities Director came to my property and we negotiated a deal to allow Ledgewood Construction to cut down the trees.
The deal was, I would suffer the loss of the trees and they would put in an 8 foot stockade fence. After the trees were cut down, the fence was replaced with another chain link fence.
City of Biddeford Code; Section 53 Primary and secondary schools, fraternal organizations, and not-for-profit clubs. [Ord. No. 2001.45, 5-16-2001]
Schools, fraternal organizations and not-for-profit shall be permitted as a conditional use in accordance with the provisions below:
A. The buffers standards of this ordinance shall be met.
B. No building shall be closer than 50 feet from any property line.
C. When adjacent to residential properties, parking areas and outdoor activity areas shall be effectively screened from view by a continuous vegetative barrier, or stockade fence, not less than six feet in height.
Children in Malta must start museum class as from 5 years old. Now a days, parents work full time and most of them, BOTH! And for single parents it can be worse. We have to involve our grandparents and have NO quality time with our children.
I think that as PRIVATE schools already have the 1 hour per week after school for MUSEUM, also the GOVERNMENT schools should apply this!
