Petition Background (Preamble):
Every year around the globe, Breast Cancer treatment is celebrated in October. The general public presumes that breast cancer is the most common cancer, but fail to recongnize the many other cancers that people have lost loved ones to.
Petition:
The only cancer that gets recognition every year is Breast Cancer. There are many people who have survived or died of lung cancer, ovarian (cervical) cancer, prostate cancer, and others.
My current principal of my school, Ms. DeBlanc, is recently diagnosed with lung cancer. My mom died from ovarian cancer back in 2003 when I was 8. My best friend's grandmother died from lung cancer.
I believe there should be a month assigned for all cancer sufferers and not just one specific cancer. We should honor all of those who have died or survived this tragedy and give them equal recognition.
