Stop the need for medical certificates for one or two days school absence

Previously a child needed a medical certificate to cover absences of longer than three days per month. Now parents are being asked to provide a medical certificate for each day of absence.
This is going to cause an extra expense to parents or a lot of wasted time visiting a polyclinic for what a times may be no more than a simple cold or stomach bug.
Also some parents may find the inconvenience of getting a medical certificate too much and therefore will send children to school when slightly sick thus spreading the virus or bacterial infection.
We the undersigned, call upon the social solidarity minister Michael Farrugia to stop the need for a medical certificate for each day taken off from school.
As parents we believe that this system will cause some children to be sent to school when they are slightly unwell spreading any illness further.
We understand that there is a need to target truancy and prevent illiteracy but feel that this is not the way to go about it.
We kindly request, that the previous system, of children being allowed to take three days off school a month without having to present a medical certificate, be brought into effect again.
