#Gender Rights and Issues
Target:
General Bheki Cele, Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, Parliament and President Cyril Ramaphosa
Region:
South Africa

South Africa's genocide rate is 5 times the global rate. According to an article by the New Age newspaper, 63 women were murdered in South Africa in a space of 30 days, that means each day at least two women are murdered in South Africa. This is very alarming and the increase in domestic and gender based violence in this country shows how unsafe and unprotected women and children are.
Research has shown that most perpetrators of these violent crimes had been reported once or more to the police by their victims, however they are let back into our communities.
The justice system needs to do more in order to protect the victims of Gender Based Violence.

We, the undersigned, call on the Chief of Police, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court and the President of South Africa to enact laws that will protect victims of gender based violence and deny alleged perpetrators bail.
We also pledge to protect our fellow citizens from such crimes, report offenders and not encouraged or partake in violence against women.
