China is the world's largest exporter of fur in the world. Due to absence of animal welfare and cheap labor.
Investigators found 50 to 6,000 abused animals which included red foxes, raccoon dogs, arctic foxes, minks, and rex rabbits with pathological behaviors. When being transported, they were under brutal conditions like being skinned often alive. The absense of animal welfare standards allows animals to live in rows of cages and cruetly.
Before sale, animals are removed from cages with metal tongs around their necks and carried by their hind legs for skinning and slaughter. The workers repeatly hit them in the head with wooden cluds or swing them by the hind legs and beating their heads on the ground. Many of the animals are still alive when being skinned, often for 5 to 10 minutes.
These fur is used for fashion, furniture, and childrens toys.
