I was married to an abusive man and after almost 8 years, had the courage and support to finally leave him. I then met a very nice man and we have been together for almost 5 years and married for almost 4 years now. He wants to adopt my daughter. The paternal father has not seen my daughter since 1998, has not paid one dime in child support, is supposedly now on SSI and I was told that he does not have to pay any child support since he is on disability.
Well, we do not want to have anything to do with him anyway and my Husband loves our daughter very much. He is the best thing that has happened to both of us and I want to submit this petition to the courts to allow him to Adopt her.
By allowing my Husband to adopt my daughter it will help her feel as if she actually belongs to a happy family. Right now she feels like an outsider because her last name is different and she does not want to be apart of her paternal abusive father. My husband has been a caring and loving Daddy to my 11 year old daughter for almost 5 years now and she is always asking if he can adopt her. I want the courts to allow this and to know that this is in her best interest. The people below, by signing this petition, agree with me and want this to happen as well. Thank you.
