Whether or not you are convicted of perjury or expelled from the U.S. Senate, your contradictory statements have reopened the controversy over your appointment by former Governor Blagojevich. This never-ending scandal has had repercussions far beyond the borders of your home state of Illinois. Perhaps worst of all, it is significantly detracting from the ability of the congressional leadership to focus on our country's financial crisis.
We therefore ask that you heed the advice that has come from highly respected sources such as the editorial boards of the Washington Post and Chicago Tribune. Senator Burris, please RESIGN!
