Say No to SB (SNSB)

On the 8th of january 2015, the overwhelming majority of Sri Lankan voters stood by President Maithripala Sirisena to end the previous regime. One of the main resons for people to reject the previous regime was its highly unethical and uncivilized behavior towards the educated and professional population of the country.

The poster child for the said behavior was Minister S B Dissanayeke who in his tenure as the higher education minister managed to antagonize the entire university teacher population and other related professions including medical doctors. He became the number one enemy of the university student population by brutally crushing student movements and insulting them with his vulgar and uncivilized speeches. He used political power and thuggery to suppress and intimidate professional institutes such as Sri Lanka Medical Council and University Grants Commission. He was allegedly linked to many attacks on university professionals, medical doctors and members of Sri Lanka Medical Council.

S B Dissanayake has a very disturbing track record of being the most uncivilized and unethical politician in recent history. He has changed aligns frequently "jumping" from political party to political party. His vulgar and coarse speeches and derogatory remarks on individuals and institutes earned him the status of most disgusting and disliked minister in the recent history.

His conduct in policy decisions and the functioning of the ministry of higher education has done immense damage to the university system. He appointed cronys to important positions in the university system. He brought in legislation which are derogatory to the concepts of free education and he abused the powers vested on him as the minister of higher education.
