There is too much racism in the Health Care Industry. Nurses of Color and of different origin are being discriminated against needlessly and losing their jobs.

I have witnesses White nurses making many mistakes that are a detriment a patient's health, yet they keep their positions. They continue to enjoy the benefits and peace of mind that a stable job brings. These employers follow the three strikes you are out rule. Nurses of Color can make a minor mistake, that cause the patient no detriment to their health and would be fired. Because the management only sees the skin color, hears the accent and not a human being; they receive a harsher penalty. Either multiple days of suspension or termination.

Furthermore, many nurses of Color are single parents. They struggled against adverse situations to become nurses so that they can take care of their families. Only to be met by racism and prejudice. The employers follow the three strikes cause the environment to become stressful. This kind of treatment lowers the self esteem, causes despair, destroys finances and throws the family back into poverty. This kind of discrimination not only effects a family but our Great Nation.

Once the nurse is terminated it they have no access to information that would prove mistreatment. EEOC is back logged and low on manpower. I think that there should be an agency or law that allows the nurse to take fight for equality. With the assistance of an legal representative, she/he should be allowed to retrieve information and prove mistreatment. The facility needs to be held responsible and pay restitution.
