Licences to frack for shale gas and Coal Bed Methane have been approved for large parts of the UK, including parts of Denbighshire. Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, involves pumping a cocktail of chemicals under high pressure to shatter the underground rock formation and release pockets of gas. This has caused mini-earthquakes and polluted drinking water.
Fracking could also see multinational corporations drilling under our homes without the householders' permission. We oppose this dangerous and harmful system of drilling for gas and call for the UK Government to follow other states in banning its use.
