RE: Student Lunches

We, the undersigned, ask that you reconsider the decision to remove second helpings from the Cokeville High School lunches.

Recently a petition was signed to make second helpings available to Junior High students during the 11:30 lunch period. As a result second helpings were not given to Junior High instead they were taken away from the High School students who eat at 12:06 (the last lunch period of the day). This was done for the sake of making the serving sizes fair to both sets of students, but instead of making it fair it actually wrongs them both.

The second helpings of food given to the High School students at lunch is a way to eliminate extra food and at the same time make the High School students who are not content with there lunches feel full after lunch. Following the new rules that made it so no students could get second helpings, there was extra food after the 12:06 lunch period and student were not allowed to eat it. Most students felt that they had not eaten enough and either went home or to the store to get the same amount of food that they would normally eat, but at a higher price to the students.

We as a CHS student body feel that if extra food is available after every student has been served lunch we should be able to go back for these extra helpings. We propose the the old policy is returned for the time being, and the possible solutions to the problem will be discussed in the next student council meeting. Please sign if you support this petition.
