Background (Preamble):
Trafficking across the Mexico-Texas border is only a first-degree felony if the crime is done to a person 14 years old or younger.
Once the person is older than 14, the crime is only punishable by a second-degree felony.
House Bill 2096 needs to be amended to make trafficking of any human being the same first-degree felony.

This petition is addressing the punishment for human trafficking in Texas. Right now it is only a first-degree felony if the person trafficked is 14 or under.
But once they are older than 14, it only becomes a second-degree felony.
