We are asking for the Billerica Public School Board to eliminate homework assigned over vacation as most students are on vacation with their families. Many students do not have the time to do Vacation Homework.
We are also asking in the Petition Below for Summer Homework to be counted as extra credit as many students go away over vacation and do not have the time to do the assigned homework.
We are also asking for the elimination of homework assigned over vacation and due, for full credit, during the middle of the vacation.

We, the undersigned, call on the Billerica Public School Board
We, the undersigned, are asking for elimination of homework that is assigned over a school vacation including Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Vacation, Winter Vacation and Spring Vacation as these vacations should be a chance where students are giving the chance to relax and take a break from school, not worry about trying to get the homework done for all of his/her vacation homework.
We, the undersigned, are also asking for a change in the way Summer Homework is graded and counted. We are asking that summer homework including Summer Reading is counted as extra credit in the students’ English class.
We are also asking for the elimination of homework that is assigned over summer vacation and asks students to return the homework to the school, for full credit, during the middle of the summer.
Many students Go Away over Vacation/Summer Vacation and many of them have no time to complete their Vacation Homework.
