All are aware of the rampant and unmitigated devastation caused by the Deepwater Horizon/British Petroleum oil rig explosion that killed 11 workers and started the largest environmental disaster in United States history.

Clean up efforts are projected to last many years. The 1990 Oil Pollution Act limits BP’s liability, for economic damages, to only $75 million dollars. Currently, BP has contracts with the federal government that amount to over $9 billion dollars. It is imperative to end taxpayer and government support to this company.

We propose that the Environmental Protection Agency ban British Petroleum from receiving any future contracts with the federal government using the debarment process under the Clean Water Act. They should no longer profit from our government and our people.

We, the undersigned, respectfully call upon the Environmental Protection Agency to permanently debar British Petroleum, its subsidiaries and entities, under the Clean Water Act from all future contracts with the United States government.
