Background (Preamble):
A group of participants form countries in the Asia Pacific in the Diplomacy Training Program recently conducted by the UNSW of Sydney, Aust agreed a human rights forum for NGOs in the Asia Pacific be established with support from States such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.
This forum would enable NGOs to discuss human issues prior to States and other formal bodies meeting int he region to do the same.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call upon the Human Rights Commissions of Australia and New Zealand to provide financial support to establish a forum for NGOs in the Asia Pacific to meet at least twice annually to discuss and formulate submissions on human right issues to the International Human Rights Council in Geneva.
