HEART HISTORY
The rock band *Heart released their first record 35 years ago in 1976. Opening the door for the rock and roll hall of fame induction process in 2001.
This group was formed in 1967 by Steve Fossen, Roger Fisher and Mike Fisher as The Army. Steve Fossen and Roger Fisher of the Army organized the bands first line-up of musicians and band practice in Fossen's parents home in 1967. Then signed the first AFM union contract in 1968. Later during 1968 they changed their name to Whiteheart, shortened it to Heart in 1969, Hocus Pocus in 1971 and back to Heart in 1972. The Wilson sisters, Ann Wilson joined in 1971 during the Hocus Pocus year line-up and Nancy Wilson in 1974 and Mike DeRosier and Howard Leese joined in 1975.

Collectively the rock group Heart evolved with symbolic melodies and lyrics full of expression that have made a major impact on the global perpetuation of the essence of rock and roll music for over three decades. Including Heart's massive influence and emotional impact of several seasoned, new and younger performers in the music industry. In addition, an exceptional contribution in Heart’s worldwide influence is the Wilson sister’s massive revolutionary influence on other women in rock and roll history.
About the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Criteria
The induction criteria for performers in the Rock and Roll Fall of fame are as follows: Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist’s contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.
