A study conducted at monitoring sites across the capital in 2009-10 showed roads in Camden were among those to exceed recommended levels of speeding and using
20 mph speed limits have been proven by several studies to significantly reduce road accidents.

TfL casualty studies for 2009-10 show a 40% increase in cyclist casualties in Camden http://www.camdencyclists.org.uk/newsitems/ccc/cyclist-casualties-in-camden-2009-10

They also encourage cycling and walking, reduce carbon emissions by helping the flow of traffic and improve air quality.

There have been 3 reported accidents at the intersection of Haverstock Hill with Parkhill Road in the past 6 months. Parkhill Road in particular, is the main throughfare between Belsize Park and South End Green, where there has been additional traffic over the years. This can also pose a threat of safety to the elderly, school children (The Village school) and fellow residents in the road. Hence a 20mph speed limit would help the community and Village school immensely. Camden Council are now already assessing the speed limits in Haverstock Hall.

Already 7m residents in the UK live in towns which are adopting or have adopted this policy. It is time that Belsize Park, Camden NW3 did too. (For more information see here: http://www.20splentyforus.org.uk/ )

Please make a difference and sign! Our goal is to reach 1000 names for this.

We the undersigned call on Camden Council to follow the lead of other London boroughs and bring in a 20 mph limit on Parkhill Road and thus for other residential streets to follow in NW3.
