Recently in a shocking move, the present government approved the shredding of Higher Education Commission into pieces. This includes its devolution from a federal level to provincial.
This is disastrous for the future of Pakistan as it will lead to horrendous problems. It will lead to the same chaotic situation that exists in our schools. Formula-based funding will be replaced with political favoritism.
We cannot be bystanders as the HEC is shredded into pieces. (Excerpts from Dr Atta-Ur-Rahman’s Article)
We the undersigned, call on the Prime Minister and the Cabinet members who made the decision to devolve HEC, to take back their decision with immediate effect for promotion of higher education in specific and prosperity of Pakistan in general.
