This petshop has been selling very ill puppys. The conditions these puppys have to live in disgusting. Puppys have been sold with fake papers and the guy has said to purchase them from puppy farms.
Petsville, in Richmond Road, was featured in Rogue Traders on Thursday, February 22, selling undercover reporters a puppy claimed by the programme to have an incurable hereditary eye disease.
The manager of Petsville refused to comment this week, but told Rogue Traders he has never been prosecuted by the RSPCA in 38 years and complies with all the relevant legislation.
The BBC programme claimed blue roan cocker spaniel Leah also had giardia, a serious intestinal disease, and lacked the full detailed paperwork of its pedigree family tree.
The undercover reporters were told the puppy had been born in Ireland - where the controversial practice of “puppy farming” is carried out, although the shop owners insisted their animals come from reputable breeders.
After a £300 veterinary bill, Leah the puppy was rehomed from the RSPCA rescue centre in Potters Bar.
Since the programme was aired, a Facebook group has been set up calling for Petsville to be closed down, with several customers commenting on their pet’s health issues.
Complaints have also been flooding into internet forums and business review websites.
The investigation began after several complaints from customers whose pets had died or were seriously unwell shortly after buying them.
Distraught owner Garry Green, from Feltham, told the Surrey Comet in September last year how his springer spaniel puppy Alfie was diagnosed with a cough and heart murmur and died three weeks after being bought.
He had to stump up £1,200 for veterinary fees, although half of this was refunded by Petsville, along with a refund for Alfie.
Campaign group South East Animal Rights also listed Petsville it as one of its top priorities over the past five years and the RSPCA investigated its Sutton branch in the autumn of 2007, after receiving complaints from worried animal lovers.
A spokesman from the RSPCA said it has received several complaints about Petsville over the past six months but no action could be taken because it is adhering to its licence.
It is inspected every four months by the City of London Veterinary Department on behalf of Kingston Council, and had its licence last renewed in December 2008.
Despite complaints the animals were too tightly packed into cages in the shop, Petsville meets all the requirements for food, water and accommodation in the Pet Animals Act.
This petition will hopefully encourage the council to think twice before issuing this petshop a license. The more signatures the better so please sign. If nothing comes from it then at least we all tried.
As well as a signature please call the council and complain as the more grief they get the better.
